I was bad yesterday too. Had fried chicken on a salad with little tortilla strips and honey mustard dressing and then for dinner I ate rice. I have no idea why, I just ordered it and put it in my mouth. And I don't even like it that much. So let's make a pact today to eat low carb. I say ease back in with about 30 carbs today. How's that sound? Don't starve yourself, you will just be bingeing later would be my bet.

a, who needs help too. I am almost at 180 again.

a,

I am so happy to see you making the commitment to get back on track again! Now, we had the conversation that you were feeling a bit bored with walking and you said you were going to check out the gym this weekend....I hope you will make that part of what you are going to do today!!!

Well Joya, I just stopped by the gym on my way home and they have my card. SO it is just a matter of getting some clothes on and going to work out either today or tomorrow. I went out this morning and bought new tires and had my car aligned so now I have spent two days on my car. Where does the weekend go? It is Saturday and it doesn't even feel like I had Friday off. And now I am bored, so I guess I should go to the gym or walk seeing as I did not walk yesterday. BTW my massage, although not top rated, did help my back. and it was half price to boot.

Jayne, I could have written your post~same thing has come over me, I

just want sweets, bakery goods mostly, I have indulged this last week but

I usually manage to make it just one meal and than get back on plan~ I

think it happens when I get bored and just plain tired of thinking up

something that sounds good meat wise,I don't feel like cooking and have

no appitite for meat and just want to be left alone and not constantly

haveing to be prepared meat wise~nothing sounds good~ right now I'm

frying bacon and going to scramble 2 eggs and I don't want them but I'm

hungry~but my mind is still wandering to what do I want that's sweet~

good luck fighting the urge :)

ALICE >*;*<

Okay, time to fess up, yesterday I was very bad, should have been my fourth day

of induction and something came over me, I ate everything that would go in my

mouth full of sugar. Feel like cr__ this morning. I just feel like I want to

keep eating sugar, which has always been my problem, and if I don't stop this I

will do some serious damage to my weight. I've never had this problem before

after 2 years following lc. Have no idea why, came back from vacation, I'm not

stressed, I'm happy and all is well with the world. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know whether to follow lc today very strictly or take three days and

just eat a lot of lc stuff,, cream etc. and stay under 20 carbs just to get back

on plan. Usually when I'm bad, I just go to meat and veggies and I'm back in

line but it's just this feeling I have that I can't seem to shake. Any ideas?

I'm afraid to put anything in my mouth, maybe I should just starve today, lol

Nah, I'll try an omelet this morning and then keep checking my e-mail. lol

Thanks for listening,

Jayne

Hi Amy,

That must have been frightening to have your heart skipping beats. I am glad

you went and checked it out with your BP. I now take 5 BP pills a day, but

that is because I am down to 18% renal function and so my BP is harder to

maintain. Do you take your BP meds once a day or twice? I take mine morning and

at night so that it keeps my BP consistent.

You might ask your Neph about that if you are only taking yours in the

morning. It is hard to say without knowing the specifics, and I am not a

doctor. I

don't even play one on tv :-) I do know that BP meds can contribute to the

fatigue so they may be making that worse for you.

On the foam, it is hard to tell the amount of protein spilling based on the

amount of foam. You can't really tell until your Neph orders more lab tests.

Do you have an appointment with him coming up soon?

I take all my bp meds in the morning as perscribed but my mom was telling me I

probably needed to spread them out too. I don't know if my neph is going to do

labs today or not. This appointment today was an unexpected one. I was not due

to go back to him until March. I am not on predinosone but this skipping heart

beat is scaring me. It mainly does it at night. My appointment is at 2:30

today so I hope he will enlightenment me a lot about what is going on. Like I

said, I am probably overreacting to something that I don't need to overreact

about.

Hey Amy,

When do you take your b/p meds? I found, when on high doses of pred, I

had to take 20mg lisinopril in the early am, 12 hours later take another

20mg of lisinopril, then just before bed take Cardizem LA 180mg in order to

keep my b/p under control. If I took the meds all at once I would have a

period of very low b/p followed by much higher b/p by late night. If you

are taking them close together you might want to talk to your doctor about

spreading the doses out thru the day so you are able to maintain better

control.

The prednisone tended to give me that heart skipping feeling quite

often, even now when I workout I can feel it when I take my pulse. So far

they say not to worry about it...... I was seriously tired when I was

spilling high amounts of protein, we're talking 2-3+. The b/p meds can also

cause you to be more tired than normal. I found the tiredness from the meds

seems to get a little better as your body gets used to them....the down side

for me anyhow is that's just about the time they switch all my doses!!

When do you have labs done again? Only your labs will tell how much protein

you're spilling. I've had very foamy urine only to find my protein spill

was quite low, under 0.5...then I've had times when I think it's cleared up

and I have a 1+ ...

Hi Pierre,

Thank you for telling me that. You are so knowledgeable that sometimes I forget

that you are not a doctor but you sure have a way of making me feel better and

putting it in terms I can understand. My bp was 151/103 when my heart was

skipping and that scared me even more so it went up a little higher after that

but it was because I worked myself up. I am not on a diurectic at this time. I

am on Ziac, Altace, Norvasc and Toprol. I think the Ziac has a little diurectic

in it. I appreciate you telling me this. I will ask my neph today about that.

I wondered that myself. I am swelling during the day and maybe a diurectic is

what I need to help that. I let you know what he says this afternoon.

Thanks

I've been on up to 4 BP meds at a time, Amy, and I've had what felt like

skipped heartbeats at various times. Still do. These usually aren't really

skipped beats, but rather what are called extrasystoles: a beat that comes a

little before it's supposed to, and then the heart waits for the next beat

which does come at the right time. The result is what feels like an

unusually long pause between those two beats. These are harmless. Just some

heart cells trying to take control from each other, saying " Me first! Me

first! " . Both BP meds, and just the chronic renal insufficiency can cause

the heart to be a little jumpy at times. The more you pay attention to it,

the more you notice it. So, if that's what's happening, it's nothing really.

You have the reassurance of having seen your GP. How high was the BP?

The drug your neph added must be Toprol, which is a beta blocker. It will

slow your heart rate a little, and it may help stop those " skipped "

heartbeats. 4 drugs is a lot though. If one of them isn't already a

diuretic, if it was me, I would ask the neph why not? A small dose of

diuretic really works well to control BP when it's added to an existing drug

like Altace.

Hi Amy

Glad to help. You know, a BP of 151/103 occasionally, such as when waking

up at night suddenly, is really not that high. It's only high if it's always

around that level. Our BP goes up and down all the time.

Hi Amy,

When it comes to the heart, it is better to be safe than sorry. I am glad

they are doing a 24 hour monitor on you.

I am sorry but I am not familiar with what Magnesium Oxide is used for.

Perhaps someone else in the group may have more information on that.

Let us know what the cardiologist has to say OK?

Hi Amy,

A 3+ protein is getting up there and I am sure your doctor would like to see

it reduced. I have been as high as 10 grams in 24 hours, but my normal is

around 2-3 grams in 24 hours.

Amy,

That's the hardest part about this - no one can tell me what's going to happen

if I am slightly below normal (I consider 0.04 to be slight). I mean, are my

arms going to fall off or what? If it means that, I think I'll pay a little more

That is a wake up call Bonnie. Our levels are just so important aren't they.

Kidneys are certainly very important organs.

I learned something else yesterday. When our BUN goes higher, it confuses

the Medulla in the brain which is supposed to regulate body temperature, and

that is why we tend to get cold.

, I hope that your magnesium levels increase for you and SOON!

a day for a week. He increased my Altace to 10mg. I know all will be ok I just

probably overreacted. But thanks for informing me.

We found out this past Tuesday that my beautiful wife has breast

cancer. Today we went for a genetic test that will tell us if she will

lose one or both her breasts. She is the love of my life and I want to

be as supportive as I can.

Please tell me anything that I can do. Maybe some of you have been

down this road and remember something you wished somebody would have

done. I want to do all I can to support her and keep her upbeat. She

has always been there for me.

Thanks for any help.

welcome to the group. I am sorry to hear about your wife. Breast cancer is not the death sentence it once was. I am a 15 1/2 yr survivor and there are ladies here that are further along than I am. I had a mastectomy, no reconsturction, 6 mo of chemo, no radiation and one bad lymph node.

Be there for your wife. Hold her, tell her you love her, listen to her concerns and share yours, cry together, go to her appointments if you can. My husband wrote a letter after I was diagnosed. If you click the link below and go about 1/2 way down the page it will say The Woman I Love, you might want to read it. I know he would be willing to correspond with you if you would like. Email me privately at moochie1@... if you would like his email address. I will keep you both in my prayers.

Hugs

, That was my Dads and brothers name Bill...they both passed on... Just be there for your wife and support her in everything she had to go through...when she does chemo be there for her and take her to her treatments. It is better to have someone take you to your treatments...My mom was helping me out and then she passed away suddenly...and I had a few of my moms friends helping me out taking me to my treatments...It was hard it is not the same... and at the time of my chemo I was living alone. Heard some men cant take it...It is nice that you will be there for her all the way..It is a hard road for someone to have cancer...I am over a three year survivor. I have a boyfriend that is very supportative because his first wife was sick with something else and he was there for

her...If she gains weight dont tell her she is fat..that will really upset her... Take Care and God Bless Both of You... Betsy(NC) Take care and good luck ... Note: forwarded message attached.

Great that they are paying for wigs. They wouldn't do it when I went through treatment. SharonBTrisha wrote: Thanks so much Dari.
