Guest guest
Hello everyone, just wanted to give you a quick update. As we are retired military we have to coordinate healthcare with the local Army hospital and the civilian providers. We finally had a sucessful meeting with an Army surgeon today who fully understood were we were coming from as to having a dedicated treatment team and appropiate and timely care for what lies ahead of me. Since this Army hosiptal can do NOTHING for me, but a lumpectomy, he agreed to write a referral for approval through Tricare(the military HMO) to have everything done on the outside and to only utilize the military for labwork and CAT scans. YEAHHH!!! They have a good team of specialist right here in Manhattan, Kansas and such a huge burden has been lifted from our shoulders. It was agreed upon that too much time has already been wasted and this needs attention. So tomorrow I will find out when I am going to have the CAT scan and bloodwork done with the Army and also when I can meet with my civilian Surgeon and the Onc. It was made clear that the lines of communication need to stay open between the two parties (Army - Civilian), so decisions can be made in a timely manner. We are so reliefed and so grateful to be able to deal with a set of docs who will be so much more acessable to me than anyone on Fort Riley. Bless the Army Surgeon who went beyond and thank you for all your prayers and support. I will give you an update when I know were I am going from here. At least I am finally moving into the right direction and in a couple of weeks I should be able to know more and start treatment. What a relief! Thank you and hugs to everyone....
