Men C Vacc

One of my branch members' daughter was very unwell almost 2 weeks after her

jab (has written me a newsletter article about it). She suffered a series

of fits - 12 in just over 16 hours. It can't be proved that the vacc caused

the seizures, but as a result of the case, this has been noted as a possible

reaction.

Could you post it on the list please. I have a 7 year old who is due to

have his MenC on Friday.

DS1 was 6, red injection site, but no in pain as he didn't mention it.

DD no redness or pain. she was 2 3/4

DS2 was 18 months no reaction

DS3 at 2, 3 and 4 months. Slight temperature but I couldn't say it was the men

c.

So far no reports from friends re -reactions to jabs.

DS2 had it when he was oh, 16 weeks, with the DPT and polio, then two

more at monthly intervals. No problems. DS1 had it, must have been

about 20 months.

Friend's nephew had it (? with the other routine imms - though I'd be

surprised if the HPs would describe it as a clear reaction to Men C

in that case?), certainly as a young baby and had fits and was

described as not right for months after (? due to anti-convulsants)

OK now, but obviously nasty.

Angi asked:

Just out of interest if people have experienced side effects/reactions

to

this, what were they & when did they appear?

's reply:

We had no probs at all. DH had his recently (@2yr10m). As with his

baby jabs I gave him calpol immediately (ie while still in the

surgery) and we were fine.

Are the Men C vaccines different at different ages??

Josh only had a single one with his MMR @ 15 1/2 months

Both of mine have had it in the last few months and had absolutely no

side effects, except for starting Caleb's fear of 'pricks' (see

earler email 'Help Me').
