Guest guest
, Please note that this is my opinion. My experience has shown me that the blood sugar rise in the morning is due to the fact that the body has gone many hours without food to stimulate the insulin in your system. I've noticed that my highest readings are always in the morning and by eating protein first thing, I am able to bring them down to a level closer to normal. If I eat a carb first thing, the sugar rises which is opposite of what I want it to do. Have you tried nite bites for your son? This might help him to regulate his sugar while he's asleep. Even giving him some cheese or peanut butter & crackers or on celery late at night might help. I really think we are meant to eat something small every two hours once we show signs of diabetes. Guest guest
Alice, I will have to try the protein in the morning also. As far as your mother goes--did she have seizures and diabetes? My mother was diagnosed with epilepsy when she was about 35. of course, we now know it was melas. She was thin, 5 ft, 105-110 lbs. She would black out now and then. She was on the medication when she had her last major seizure when whe was 48. Anyway, she was diagnosed as a diabetic also but was on diet control. My sister was the same body build but never a diabetic. She had two major episodes of seizures. She was 33. My grandmother and aunt are my body build, medium build and 125-140 lbs. both were insulin dependent diabetics. They never had seizures as far as I know. my aunt died at 58 of kidney failure and my grandmother last year. She was like 90. I am wondering if our body build (not that we can change it much) has anything to do with how this mito hits.
