Guest guest
Hi Jen, In my opinion Diabetics should be eating healthy foods.. When DH complains about the grocery bill, I recite what someone said.. maybe on this list, I can't remember: " Would you rather die young and rich, or old and poor? " LOL. I tell him it's not too expensive to buy healthy food on its own, it's buying healthy food PLUS all the crap DH and kids want (chips, teddy grahams, etc.) He knows now that if he wants that stuff, he has to go buy it himself. The kids have been satisfied eating raisins, bananas, baby carrots dipped in ranch, and peanut butter on celery for snacks, since I stopped buying the teddy grahams. It's amazing what they will eat when there are no other options. Guest guest
If they are hungry enough..they will eat the good stuff. When I first started to buy wheat bread my kids refused sandwiches & toast. I stuck with it and refused to buy white and after awhile they gave in. Now the wheat bread is all they eat. Recently we had out of town guests with little ones and I bought them the bread they like, white bread with no crust. My son, who is 14, saw it on the counter and said "what is with the fake bread?" LOL My kids continued to eat the wheat while the others ate the white. When I go to a fast food place and order a hamburger, I usually get a diet soda as well. It's because the regular ones are far too sweet for my teeth! My molars actually hurt from the sugar! Guest guest
My kids have always had " wheat bread " , so they were used to eating brown bread. Not 100% whole wheat, though. So when I switched them over to whole grain, they didn't really seem to notice, except they don't like the sunflower seeds, LOL. I'm going to start making the whole wheat bread that's in the orange cookbook, I just need to get some gluten flour first. Guest guest
Ok, I never once in that whole paragraph said anything about Diabetics eating unhealthy. There is nothing wrong with burgers and fries if they are done right . wrote: Hi Jen,In my opinion Diabetics should be eating healthyfoods.. Guest guest
I am the same way Ann, I have very sensitive teeth that cannot handle much sugar at all.Ann wrote: > I've always wondered why the guys truly did it.
