Guest guest
Hi, I found this group and put my first message on 18/4/03.Since then I have been amazed at the amount of mail that the site generates.Obviously many specific queries and are discussed, and I wondered how I could contribute as well as put my queries and concerns. My background and present position is as set out in my first message. I am planning to pass on what happens to me between now and having my BHR which I am planning to have done at the beginning of September, and hopefully I can get some of my queries answered along the way. I have seen Dr Singer at the Thames Valley Nuffield hospital which is just outside London. He has a web site and has carried 55 operations in the last 2 years and was trained at Birmingham. He says he can do the operation for me at any time with 6 weeks notice and fortunately my health insurance will pay .I think the cost is about £10,000. We recently went to Dublin for a few days break, the Irish are so friendly.great city .and I recommend Hotel in Drury St which is in the centre. However the walking was a problem especially up inclines or hills We went to Warwick Castle a few days ago and they let me park in the disabled car park which was very kind but a bit of a shock to need to do this, once again the walking any distance was uncomfortable. I am going for my first one to one session at the gym where I am a member in the swim pool. This is as I am missing exercise and to buld up strength where it may be needed before the operation. The gym manager tells me that there are a couple of people at the gym who have had the operation and I hope to have a chat with them. I am currently taking one arcoxia 90mg tablet a day, this is a N.S.A.I.D.S.and then also one codeine and one paracetamol. I am hoping to get a second opinion in the next few weeks as I feel that this is a good idea as the operation ,it seems to me is a big step to take. I have been given three names for the second opinion and I wonder if anyone has any experience of them. They areTim Briggs Royal National Ortho Hospital,Andy Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and Charing Cross Hospital? If anyone has anyone else they can recommend in the U.K. that would be appreciated. Finally on a technical matter I wonder how everyone manages the emails they receive? Since I joined the group on the 18thApril I have had 335 come through and it is rather swamping me,although I want to try and read them all.
