Guest guest
, She's probably meaning that if he has juice and hardly any calories, he could have had say milk and loaded it with calories. But if he doesn't have a weight issue I'd give him what he like's, you can always make up with something else. Eilish actually just what we do, nothing really special. Only her bottles (yes she wont part with them) are loaded with calories otherwise she eats our stuff, plus junk like all kids do. Guest guest
Hi , I want to second . We also have been told from our clinic not to give drinks without calories. But since Fiona likes her herbal tea and mineral water the most and she is not underweight, we give it to her. We are happy when she drinks milk, but don't force her to. I always found it comforting to know, that we have that option left to give her energy drinks, in case she may have trouble gaining weight in the future. Bye Torsten P.S. , I just downed a bottle of " Aussie Squash " with tons of sugar and artificial flavors. Tasted yummy!
Guest guest
, Maybe try diluting the juice a little so it isn't as appealing to guzzle. We have never had a problem with drinking juice and eating. With summer coming on, we are giving him Gatorade and pretzels (no enzymes needed) for the salt intake. And Gatorade is good for replenishing lost electrolytes and fluids during sweating. mom to Jeremaih 21 mowcf (finally gaining weight!!!!) and Brenna 5 yrswocf but with allergies > >Reply-To: cfparents >To: cfparents >Subject: Juice question >Date: Thu, 03 May 2001 21:03:48 -0000 > >Hi >I was wondering if anyone else givces their toddlers juice. Guest guest
Just a short note, our cf clinic dietician always told us the same thing regarding the juice with our oldest daughter Morgen, now three. Well she loved the juice and she didn't need to have enzymes with it. We always (95% of the time) get 100% juice for the extra vitamin content and let her decide when and how much she wanted. My theory was that who cares if it is empty calories, it is calories. Mo is in the 90th percentile for height and weight currently. She now requests milk (dragon juice) more than fruit juice but still gets either if she wants it. I am not sure what is meant by " empty " calories unless they are just looking at the nutritional content, but Morgen got the bulk of her cals from real food so I figured the juice was icing on the cake. We now let Emerson who is 1 have juice ad lib. She has gone from a complete oral aversion to any milk/formula product or use of the bottle/cup to taking 8-12 ounces of ensure per day and now off from her gtube feedings....my thoughts are don't make life more difficult for yourself, plus juice is great to hide stuff in, salt, clear lung, various meds ect.... good luck kris in idaho mo and eme bwcf Juice question >Hi >I was wondering if anyone else givces their toddlers juice. Guest guest
Hi, s nutritionist said no juice when he was little, but that was because he was so malnourished, and we had to fight for the pounds. Now he drinks juice, gatorade, and loves ice tea, he gets a shake when he doesnt want to eat, one made with a nutritional supplement and ice cream and duocal. He calls it ice cream, and loves it, I guess I figure with the summer coming, and the fact that these kids lose so much salt when they sweat, I will give him what I need to to make sure he doesnt get dehydrated, and if his nutrionist doesnt like it, then she will just have to remember that I am his mommy. Take care, , mommy of 4, 16, and now working at Burger King, yeahh, has turned me into a taxi, Caleb 6 1/2, doing great in Kindergarten, and a great big brother, 5, uses many forms of art, including body painting, ughhh, and a wonderful big sister, and 21 months, CF, GERD, bright blue eyes, a beautiful smile, who loves Barney, swinging and the outside. .. Guest guest
From what we have been told, these kids can be so terribly thirsty, and honestly, I was atfirst afraid my son was a diabetic because he wanted to drink so much. They DO want my kids to have as much whole milk as possible (in fact, Marissa's is x-tra cal. by adding powdered milk to it) but they also encourage her to drink juice. Actually, my kids prefer Gatorade over juice, especially when its warmer out. But we have not been told " no juice " ... and even if they did, I would probably ignore them. They get plenty of milk and they each drink scandishakes before bedtime, and not to mention that milk is not cheap anymore. But to answer your question, yes, I do give my toddler juice. --- wrote: > Hi > I was wondering if anyone else givces their toddlers > juice.
