Guest guest
Hi guys i thought this was important to let you know it is happening and maybe you can support him. It is not directly Mito but it is relating to all those with disabilities as IDEA still stands in dangerous Limbo. Hugs O Dear Parents, Members and Friends of the Special Needs Community, You may remember me from last year. I wrote to your e-group asking you to support IDEA reauthorization and support the rights of the disabled. This was in reference to one man's incredible commitment and journey by foot from his home in Winchester, Virginia to Washington D.C. His name is Mike Savory and he walks again this May as our nation struggles with the economy. He walks to bring light to the needs of the disabled community and remind our legislators that special education of our special children remains a crucial national need as IDEA remains in limbo. If you can join him in his walk, email him at: sav425@... If you can't, you can "walk" with him in spirit. Sign his guestbook at his website located at: http://www.geocities.com/mikesavorywalk Feel free to add a message reflecting your thoughts on these important issues. Mike is physically and neurologically impaired and has a son with a disability. He walks to bring attention and focus to the children and adults of the special needs community who need our support and protection. Last year's walk was covered by radio stations, Fox News and local newspapers. Mike and his 700+ supporters comprised of parents, disabled individuals, and disability organizations from across the nation and around the globe had their voices heard at the final public hearing of the President's Commission for Excellence in Special Education. A compiled reports, as a results of sign-in support, was submitted into testimony to the Commission. And yet Mike must walk again. IDEA remains in limbo. Budget cuts for disability programs are being cut in our states. It is time to speak out again.
