Guest guest
Hi all, I know we have been discussing the ringing in the ears lately. I was wondering how bad it has gotten for some people. Last night, I heard ringing and answered my phone. It was after I heard the dial tone, but still heard the ringing, I realized it was my right ear. When I realized it, I had to laugh about it, as it actually was funny. Has anyone else experienced this? Smiles, a

Has anyone else experienced this? a, I have had ringing in my ears for the past 3 weeks, but we think it is related to the gentamicin treatment I received. I also have vestibular dysfunction that goes along with the ringing in the ears from the gent. My balance is really off from this as well. Does the ringing occur more frequently with vertigo or dizziness? Does anyone else have vertigo? I wonder how common that is with mito. Hope your ringing gets better, a! Guest guest
a, Sometimes tinntus can sound much like a phone ringing or other times it can sound like a jet plane or a freight train. It's really strange and at first, I was sure everyone else must hear what I'm hearing, but of course they weren't. How long has it been since you had your hearing checked? Guest guest
a, My ringing in my ears isnt usually ringing but more a sound that plane that flies low, sometimes it does get worse and sounds more ringing like though but never thought it was a telephone, thats a trip! i had to laugh at it too, sorry. :-) my mom just recently started having probs with hearing and the buzzing too and we ask each other if we hear the planes all the time and if both of us hear it, then we believe its really a plane, but we might be wrong. lol you should let your dr know about this, see what he says. its more an annoyance than anything else, but worth mentioning. hope it doesnt get any worse to where you are answering the doorbell! lol take care, adrienne
Guest guest
Alice, It has been awhile since my ears were checked, but when I was at my PCP the last time, the ringing in the ears was brought up and I am scheduled to see an ear/nose/throat doctor on April 2nd. My PCP wanted me in sooner, but it didn't happen. :-) I will be getting my hearing checked then. Guest guest
Dear Malisa and a, I have problems intermittantly with vertigo and tinnitus and these weird little ?? things where I just seem out of it for a few seconds. (is that an " absence " ?) The vertigo seems to go throught good spells, when it rarely occurs and bad spells when it accurs daily or more. Guest guest
Malisa, The ringing used to occur more frequently with vertigo, but now rings whenever. I have been having more vertigo than usual, so it is hard to say how often they are together now. I hope your balance and ringing gets better Malisa! Guest guest
Adrienne, My doctor knows and is sending me to an ENT. I have had the plane sounds as well, but the ringing is what gets me. Hopefully it doesn't get worse to where I am answering the doorbell, as that would really worry me because I don't have a doorbell! :-) LOL. I hope you and your mom will be able to stop hearing the planes! Guest guest
a, Good luck with your appointment on April 2. I hope they don't find hearing loss. There are things that can be done to help reduce the noise which can become very offensive over time. April 2 will be an easy day for me to remember as it's the date my bilateral implant will be activated. You and I will both have something to report that day. Guest guest
a,Alice, They are looking for hearing loss, as I already have a slight one, but hopefully it won't be anything too serious. I am hoping they can do something to reduce the noise, as it does become annoying at times. I will be looking forward for your report that day as well. I know you are a little nervous yet excited with the surgery. I will be thinking of you! Smiles, a Good luck with your appointment on April 2. I hopethey don't find hearing loss. Guest guest
Just a question, do the bad spells coincide with what we call a crash, where you are lower energy or more tired than usual all the way around? Just curious! > Dear Malisa and a, I have problems intermittantly with > vertigo and tinnitus and these weird little ?? things where I just > seem out of it for a few seconds.
