Guest guest
a, I've had food allergies tested by blood work, which I hear is not very accurate. The rotation diet is probably a more accurate test. Anyway, I don't eat cow products because I started to notice over 10 years ago that I felt very sluggish and dull after eating them. Many people are allergic to beef products because beef in this country are grain fed, and that may be what's going on with their allergies. I do not know why I feel more achy after eating lamb, and sometimes chicken too if I eat too much. Possibly it's creating a more 'acid' response in my body, worsening the arthritis symptoms. Also it is true that cracked lips can be a B vitamin deficiency. My lips seemed to respond to Lotrimon cream, so I think it was fungal. I do find it amazing that I eat generally healthier than most people I know, yet have more health problems than most people I know. Obviously, diet isn't everything. As for Mercola's diet, (someone mentioned it previously as THE diet for arthritis), I looked at it on the web site. I think that it 'in general' is good, but Mercola is simply cutting out some foods based on the fact that a lot of people are allergic or sensitive to, for instance, corn. He just cuts corn out. I am not allergic to corn or soy and feel okay on them. His diet is generic therefore. Also , he made a mistake on his site. He says cut out wheat. That's good. Later he says to avoid some kinds of soy. Fermented soy is okay, he says, and " so is tempeh " . But tempeh is NOT soy. Tempeh is a wheat product. He contradicts himself, and he lumps tempeh with soy products. Obviously he hasn't done all his homework. It's one thing to mis-speak, but it's another to advertise it wrong on your website. >>, I found your post fascinating. Does it make any sense to you that you might have a food allergy to certain meats? Also, the paleolithic diet is very much like ATkins and is low carbohydrate, but it can leave a person deficient in certain vitamins which could cause the cracked lips, etc. Have you tried a rotation diet for food sensitivities? Chances are a low carbo diet in your case needs to be modified to avoid foods to which you are sensitive. a Carnes
