Acex is sort of super Zantax, and does NOT cause heartburn! or fat in stools!

n Rojas wcf who is trying to type properly today, and failing! This is

on

ly the opinion of a patient, her adult daughter, and a cousin's daughter. We

also added (yes, that's it) Pancrecarb to MT10!

Hi. My son, Jonah (2 1/2 yrs.), is still having gastro

trouble. He was hospitalized last week for what the

docs thought was a bowel obstruction. After many

tests, we found out that he was not full of stool.

Instead he is full of gas (they think). His belly is

huge!! He also complains of stomach pain. His CF doc

sais that he is on a pretty high dose of pancrease MT

10. Does anyone have any info about kids who have CF

and enzymes don't work? What happens to them? We also

tried prilosec. No change. His growth in height is

bad, but weight is ok. Any ideas??

There a few things you can try. You could try a different brand of enzymes,

some work better for different people. You could also test him for various

food allergies like milk, or wheat. There are also other conditions you can

test for like celiac's disease - basically a problem with gluten. I think

you can also have pancreatitis in addition to CF. Perhaps you could consult

a GI if the CF team doesn't have any ideas for you.

Good Luck.

we need more info if you want good answers.

what is his weight, how many stools etc?

drs say there weight has to do with there height. good nutrition then you

get height, you need nutrition to grow.

brandon is in the 5% for height and weight. we are glad he is maintaining

that, he use to bounce on/off the chart. hes been on the chart for about 2-3

years. wish he would get higher on the chart but.

brandon had problems with his stomach area for 2 years.

it started with obstruction(we thought) NOT, gas-- again NOT. he was on 14

ultrase mt 10 w/meal, 10 w/snack. they did the fat test, (with keeping his

poop for 72 hrs) and he had alot of fat.

they changed his enzyme to pancrecarb and he also takes zantac(has been for

10 yrs.) and his belly pains are gone, he don't have them problems anymore.

not sure if it is ultrase causes gas or what the breakdown was doing wrong

but the change worked.

He's about 29 lbs. He will be 3 in August. Around 34

inches tall. His stools are very watery, but he is

constantly on myralax.

ASK the DOc if trying PANCRECARB would be really helpful. I feel from others

(or so it sounds like) that had similar problems. It worked for them. they

have a regular size and a smaller one.the doc can get samples (for trying

first ) for you .

Hi Michele, I may be repeating myself here, because I'm way behind in

emails. My daughter has extreme gas pains, too, and obstructions often.

She just started on Pancrecarb and it seems to be doing the trick.

Hi we had the same thing with our son Josh 6. Constant belly aches, bloating

and enzymes not working. The Dr. finally put him on reglan and zantac 2x;s

per day. The explanation was that the stomach was very acidic (hence the

enzymes don't work in an acidic environment). Also the acid was causing the

opening between the stomach and intestines to become inflamed. This led to

the stomach not emptying well enough and the bloating.

Until this regimine my son would eat three bites say he was stuffed and then

20 minutes later be starving. It was very frustrating. Now it seems we have

got it under control.

Good luck

I wonder if the doc knew about PANCRECARB??? It

would make it so he only needed that instead of

both of those meds. It really calms the tummy

down. He could check out the literature or have

the DCI rep come by and in-services him. They don't

mind doing that. They will also give sample to try

to make sure they will do the job for

him........So many folks have found it really

worked for them.

Good luck,

Hi Grandmom Bev,

don't think so. When Josh has problem with too much acid in the

stomach, the Pancrcarb will do nothing about this. It is enteric

coated and the coating dissolves only in the intestines and lets the

bicarbonat out. So it helps against too much acid in the intestines,

but does nothing in the stomach.

I have contacted Digestive Care Inc. and they are not willing to give

out any info on the product. How come??

Bye
