Guest guest
Tonight DH asked me to make MaBoDoufu, a Chinese recipe he enjoyed in Japan. Usually it is made with ground beef, and has wheat from soy sauce, among other ingredients, but I've been working on a vegetarian GF version. Tonight I was really happy with the results! I made it with mushrooms and fresh water chestnuts that I'd found at our local asian market, and made my own approximation of a black bean sauce, and it was great! Especially with some leftover P.F. CHang's garlic spinach and Japanese style short grain rice. If you have a chance to try fresh water chestnuts, go for it- they taste so much nicer than canned- it was the first time I'd ever used them, and I sort of " guessed " at preparation, steaming them in the wok before sauteeing them with the other ingredients, and then peeling them. Mmm!!!
