Guest guest
Humi; the only swelling I had was after radiation to the breast that had the cancer. ren
Guest guest
hi Humi, both a) & are normal. I remember thinking that the size difference on my operated vs. non-operated breast wasn't that bad, but my surgeon said it was due to it being swollen due to a hematoma (sp?) or blood. I ended up needed a mastectomy, so I don't know how long the swelling was suppose to last before it would go down. - humikhawar wrote on 2/20/2006, 1:17 PM: > Hi all, > > Are there any experiences of > > a) change in the size of the breast after lumpectomy? > swelling in the breast operated? > > Thank you, > > Humi. > >
Guest guest
I had the dr tell me my right breast was smaller. Sure enough. When I looked in the mirror at home it really is. Good luck Janet A IDC
Guest guest
Hello Ren, I didn't swell after radiation. I had the most swelling after the stereotatic biopsy. Guest guest
Humi, Please call your surgeon to ask how long the swelling will remain. Unless they gave you the wrong operation, you will end up smaller ;-) - humikhawar wrote on 2/21/2006, 7:19 AM: > Thank You all for the replies! > > I am small,(36 A),after this lumpectomy,my operated upon breast has > changed to B,while the other one is still A. Guest guest
-Hi Humi, I had my Lumpectomy 1-1/2 years ago. I too am very small. The left breast (the one operated on) was larger for quite a while. Remember the surgeon is not gentle when operating and swelling does occur. My breast is still very tender at the incession site and will be for a long time. I was extremley lucky and there is very little difference between the two breast. as a matter of fact the left is a liitle " Perkier " HaHa. Guest guest
hi, The side of my lumpectomy has always been bigger and firmer.......than the non-operated side.......My radiation oncologist states that this is normal.........He did tell me that as I age the operated side will never sag.....but the non-operated side will.......Well, that was a kick in the pants when he told me that!!!!!!!! The thing is I do have bouts of lympodema and when it acts up that operated breast REALLY does swell up in size........without the lymphedema acting up I am one size bigger on the cancer side............Hard to find a bra to fit I'll tell you!!!!!!! We all have our stuff to deal with don't we? It's one heck of journey to say the least...... My thoughts Darlene wrote: hi Humi, both a) & are normal. Guest guest
wow, darlene, how no idea the lumpectomy would make the breast permanently bigger. Too bad I had to have a mastectomy, because my breast was alot smaller than my other one, so the lumpectomy would have evened things out :-) - andwemet03 wrote on 2/21/2006, 5:44 PM: hi, The side of my lumpectomy has always been bigger and firmer.......than the non-operated side.......My radiation oncologist states that this is normal.........He did tell me that as I age the operated side will never sag.....but the non-operated side will.......Well, that was a kick in the pants when he told me that!!!!!!!! Now, that's a visual isn't it? :-) wrote: wow, darlene, how no idea the lumpectomy would make the breast permanently bigger. Guest guest
Hi Darlene, I'm new to this goup. I too have lymphedema. I swell ( an understatement)and it gets very painful and I lose what range and motion I do have, I have gloves, sleeve and a lymphedema bra, I do wear it when I can get into it!! My onocologist helped me get this bra. It works well once I get it on. The bra was designed by a women who is a breast cancer survivor> Her company name is Bellissi I beleive. Bra is expensive, very expensive. I think there a web site for her. Its worth a check. Drudia
