Guest guest
Thanks to all who responded: I am lactose intolerant and have not eaten dairy for over 20 years. Yogurt is okay though. I am wheat, oats and barley free. I feel way better that way. I never drink coffee or refined foods, never eat sodas etc. I haven't eaten cow products in over 15 years. Mostly eat chicken, occasional fish, soy, corn, rice, salads, cooked vegies, occasional fruit, some honey on things. For my big indulgence I do love chocolate, but need to have it fruit sweetened or honey sweetened. I've been really trying to keep chocolate to a minimum. Was checked in December and didn't have much yeast but had gotton a weird fungus bigtime. The fungus had no sensitivity to anything except garlic, which I haven't tried yet only because I've been on so many pills that I hadn't gotton round to it. Since I've started the minocin I've had a fungal rash on my back and now these cracks. I too have been told that these are secondary infections and my gp just treats them symptomatically. Last month I tried, on a friend's recommendation, the Paleolithic Diet. This consists of NO grains or dairy. Imagine what a hunter-gatherer might eat. That is it. My friend has felt great on it so I tried it. I hated it. Too much protein for me, and that was when the cracks began. I also find that my joint achiness gets worse with foods like Lamb. I will try and eat less carbos as a suggested. My general impression after playing with diet for over the last 15 years in relation to this disease is that, unless your symptoms are caused by an allergy to a group of foods, that diet is not a cure. My old rheumy did say that a very strict vegan diet has been known to keep the symptoms down, but it ain't no cure. >---------- >>From: " " <veggie@...> >><rheumaticonelist>, <leslie@...> >>Subject: Re: rheumatic Fungus et al >>Date: Fri, Feb 18, 2000, 7:46 PM >> > >>Sounds to me like you have a yeast overgrowth problem.
