The doctor's office handled it fine and being a praying person, I handed off the stress of worrying about the approval. Guest guest
Any chance that anyone here has tried this with Dr De Smet and insurance companies in the US/Canada? Besides having government coverage here in Canada, called Medical Services Plan here in British Columbia, I also have Blue Cross. I looked at both of their websites, and it didn't look like I had a hope of getting coverage, but wondered if anyone here has been successful with overseas operations. Sharry Insurance Some folks have been asking about insurance coverage on this procedure, and I wanted to share a pearl that I learned. It might make the difference for someone. One thing I was told right away by one of my surface hippy friends was to NOT ask insurance if they will cover this procedure. DO NOT SAY A WORD TO THEM, and let the doctor's office do all correspondance with them. The doctors' staffs deal with this all the time, and are very good at squeezing approval out of companies by whatever means they can, as long as we don't get in the way. If the doctor's office is unsuccessful, then it's safe to launch the full scale attack, as several on this board have done. But there's no need to alert insurance in advance that something could be awry. Lois

I am 36 and was just diagnosed 2 weeks ago and up till 8 weeks ago had an extremely active lifestyle, now I am sentenced to life on crutches, still trying to work daily in my job of building high performance street and racing cars, and trying desperately to remain positive about being diagnosed with AVR of the left hip. I have PPO insurance and I am praying for the opportunity of getting my life back. I just had an MRI on Monday and will review the results with my orthopedic doc on Thursday. Any info you could share about your experience and any advice you or anyone else on the list could give me would be appriciated from the bottom of my heart:) If you would prefer, please just email me off-list. Mueller Hoping to play ball with my 2 daughters again someday, someway...
Guest guest
Hi , You and I have a lot in common. I too, like you, am 36 and was diagnosed with AVN 2 weeks ago and up until about 4 months ago, was pain free. Since then, I've been learning about resurfacing instead of THR. I'm probably going to go for a bilateral hemiresurfacing since I'm in Ficat Stage 1. Email me anytime to chat. Craig -- Re: Insurance --- In surfacehippy , " jeff83deb2002 " > > > Ditto.
