I was ready to get up about 8 hours after my surgery but the hospital would not let me be they have the catheter in still. They do however let you sit in the chair so you can get out of bed. The sooner you move around the better. Walking helps a ton.

We had a Dr. appt on Friday. Everything looked good, but Roo still

has not dropped. We went for our last u/s right afterwards and the

measurements show Roo weighing under 8 lbs. and around 20 in. We also

got the sweetest picture of Roo's face! Chubby little cheeks and

kissable little lips!!! The only thing that scared me was that the

umbilical cord is around Roo's neck right now. Everyone has told me

that this is very common this late in pg because there isn't very much

room left in there. My Dr. said this also may be why Roo hasn't

dropped. My Dr. sent me this morning for Xray pelvic measurements.

They came back showing that my pelvic inlet is 7 1/2 to 8 cm. Roo's

head is measuring 10cm., so looks like we will be doing a C-Section.

Currently, we have it scheduled for next Wednesday, October 10th at

8am. There is always the possibility that I will begin labor before

then, in which case my Dr. said a couple of hours of labor before a

C-Section can aometimes be a good thing as far as getting the hormones

going and making the C-Section actually easier to recover from.

Apparently it makes your milk coming in a little easier too.

So...looks like in 9 days I will be a Mommy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited and yet scared at the same time! DH left this morning

and will be back Friday. He had a long talk with Roo last night

telling him or her to wait for Daddy to get back home. It was so

cute! Hope Roo listened!

Anyone have any words of wisdom for someone looking at a C-Section???

Elle, Wow... In nine more days... Hope Roo stays put waiting for Daddy to get back!!! Anyway... Thank you! I've spoken with a couple of friends tonite that had both

vaginal and C-Sections deliveries. They both said the C-Section was

actually easier and they preferred it over the vaginal delivery. Now,

they may just be trying to make me more comfortable with this, or they

may truly feel that way. Either way, I'm okay with it. I'm just so

anxious to meet this little one!

I also wanted to ask you...I've heard it is best to get up and try

walking around a little bit about 6 hours after the C-Section. I've

been told not to wait too long because all of the muscles stiffen up.

I know you mentioned walking around within 24 hours, but do you think

the sooner the better???

Thanks!!! I hope Roo waits for Daddy too! I appreciate your

willingness to answer any questions. I'm not sure exactly what to ask

though!?! YIKES! I think I'm more concerned with the recovery part

than the actual surgery. My Dr. said it only takes about 5 min. to

get the baby out, but it takes about 45 min. to sew me back up. I

want to do whatever I can to heal as quickly as possible.

I am so excited for you. I know you must be scared about the c-

section but you are going to be a mom next week. At least you are

finding all this out now and not after hours and hours of labor.

My dr office will let me go two weeks late. The thought of maybe

having a month left makes me want to cry. We have our u/s today at

9:30.

Well, I sure hope Roo listened to Daddy's lecture! WOW!! 9 days?! How

exciting!! I think you will be just fine...after all, women have been and

continue to have C-sections so it can't be that terribly bad, right?!

Just wanted to pop in here... When I had my section the nurses MADE me get up and start walking asap bc after a while gas starts to settle in your stomach and make you cramp up. They also kept trying to pump me full of juice and the only one I would drink was orange and they told me that the acid was going to make it worse. Elle, honestly it did hurt for me to get up and walk around the first time... But you have to keep doing it to get used to it... then it isn't so bad. That's exactly why I went ahead and scheduled it! I have a friend who

went through 14 hours of labor only to end up having a C-Section. To

that I say NO THANK YOU! I can't wait to hear what you find out today

on your u/s! You can see so much definition at this stage! I hope

you don't go two weeks late either! It's so uncomfy at this point!

That is the best thing to keep in mind ~ it can't be that awful or

I guess every hospital is a little different. I'm sure the pain is

the worst initially ~ and getting up would be the worst part!

Elle!! How exciting!!! I hope everything works out just perfectly and

Daddy makes it home, 10-10-01, what a cool day for a birthday!! I

love numbers!!! My b-day is 6-5-65.....Both of my sisters had unplanned

c-sections and had wonderful recoveries and very few people around to

help them besides their hubbys. I hope it all works out great for you!

I can't wait to see pictures of the baby and hear all the news. Post

ASAP! (I'm so impatient!)
