Guest guest
Trisha My best friend had breast cancer seven years ago and I sort of went through it with her. She had a port and did well with it. Myself, I have veins that don't show up very well and they sometimes have to poke 2-3 times to get a good vein. That includes the anesthesiologist who put me under for the lumpectomy. Dr L is a gorgeous hunk about 30 years old.....Sorry, I still love to see hunky men.......and he tried my hand first and then went to a vein near my wrist. It worked!!! So I will be asking about a port or PICC. I will have IVs once a week for two weeks and blood tests for two weeks when I'm not getting chemo. That is the resting period I guess. I do have questions about taking blood to test every week....Does anyone know if a port or a PICC would be helpful for that. Maybe I will Google those to check this out. So unless you have veins like mine that are deep and sometimes squirm out of the way of a needle, I'm not sure what the advantage of a port is. Sorry to hear of the pain, June. I will be praying for you. Janet
