Guest guest
No, there are only a few things there (like at many restaurants) that are ok to eat. I don't have the list handy (I think it was posted here earlier) but I know they also have a GF list on their website. She loves Taco Bell, would she be able to eat everything there? I realize we have a lot of reading to do, but thats a start.
Guest guest
We used to eat a lot of TB ourselves. The meat is not okay and of course the soft tortillas aren't. We just ate at one while on vacation and did okay. Sub beans in for the meat on the taco. Watch the sause, once, I saw wheat listed on the ingredients; but haven't lately. For quick meals, we often make taco meat in larger batches at home and freeze the left overs. Heat a can of refried beans, reheat the meat, a bag of lettuce and other stuff, and we're good to go in about a half hour. I have been making my own taco seasoning mix and sauce lately (because of the GF and other allergy needs) that my family likes better than what is bought at the store. Even my super fussy son. If you would like the recipes, let me know. Again, I make large batches and freeze most for later. Guest guest
Cheryl, I am really into OAMC, especially since I now have a giant stand- up freezer. I would love your recipe! And large quantities is even better! We don't eat meat so I'll sub in my TVP, but I'm sure it will taste just as good! Thanks! -Nina > > " There are many times we are looking for a quick dinner that ends up > > at Taco Bell (again) because that is one of the few places we can > > eat vegetarian and GF out, " > > Hi I just joined this club to help out my granddaughter(17 year old) that was just > diagnosed with Celiac. > > She loves Taco Bell, would she be able to eat everything there? > > I realize we have a lot of reading to do, but thats a start. Guest guest
TVP can be made of a number of different ingredients (V= vegetable) but I have found it is usually just soy. (Provided it is plain, not IN something.) The kind I buy is dried from Bob's Red Mill, pure soy. I absolutely love it and use it frequently. You just reconstitute it before using, or if a recipe is liquidy, I just add it straight in. I make meatloaf (well TVP-loaf), taco filling, chili, sloppy joes and much more. My non-GF, non-vegetarian husband even likes. He says he can barely tell the difference between it and the turkey meat we used to buy. I highly recommend it! Guest guest
Wonderful! I'll see if my store which carries a lot of Bob's Red Mill products has any. I was using a different kind a long time ago and never tried this kind. Thank! > > > Cheryl, > > > > > > I am really into OAMC, especially since I now have a giant > > stand- > > > up freezer. Guest guest
Cheryl, Thank you so much! It is going to be awesome to have those recipes, especially now that it looks like we won't be eating at Taco Bell. You're right about the freezer. It is so nice. We have a place in town where you can make 6 or 12 dinners at a time and then take them home and freeze them. (I work there part-time.) I have lots of dinners already in my freezer and now I can start making my own. Yeah! I can't wait to have meal starters and cookie dough in it! Thanks again! -Nina > Nina, > You will love your upright freezer. I certainly love mine. I found my taco mix and taco > sauce recipes. They are already in the Silly Yaks Files.
