Hey , welcome! That abusive relationship stuff can play havoc with your

self-esteem.Good for you that you got out of it! A lot of women don't. I am

Jinx,49, single mom to Gavin,8 and usually a special ed teacher (although I'm

not teaching now). You will start seeing these posts as notes from your

friends.. Sometimes I think to myself, I wonder if Gena has seen the moose

today, or what will happen with Shan and D? You can do this and we are all in

this together. Jinx

Hello everyone, my name is monica and i am 25 and single living in

Minnesota. I have been heavy all my life, when i was 16 i weighed 300

pounds when I was 17 I started working and living on my own and lost

100 pounds. I continued to lose weight through 18, 19, and 20. I felt

great energetic, happy, secure, outgoing.... but at 21 I got involved

in a mentally and emotionally draining and sometimes abusive

relationship, that lasted until this past december when i said

Goodbye for the last time. But during the past few years I have

gained over 75 pounds. I feel insecure, fat, ugly and sometimes

lonely. i started the new year exercising and eating good but have

lost interest. I work 3rd shift so it is hard for me to keep it

going. I still eat healthy and have cut out a lot of pop. But can't

find the motivation to exercise. I am not originally from MN. I have

a few friends but don't have any quality friendships to do things

with and talk to you know? I wanted to join this group to find and

give motivation to if not in person than online. please feel free to

email me privately or through the message boards and we can help do

this together. .... thanks and I can't wait to get to know all of you.

Sue, Nice to have a fellow flybaby aboard! Jinx

Re: New member

Hi ,

My name is Sue and I live in Fla. I'm new to this group too and as you'll

soon find out you've come to the right place for support and friendship.

It's great to hear from people with the same " problems " and how they are

succssfully overcoming them.

We all have to learn to take it one day at a time and the motivation factor

does get in the way!

Just start by watching your portions and drink more water, those are the

" baby steps " I'm taking, oh and of course more moving.

I'm in another group on Yahoo that taught me " you can do ANYTHING for 15

minutes " so why not try setting your timer and see what happens.

Good luck, read and post often and hope to get to know you better.

Hello, all,

My name is Cheryl . I've just joined this group today and am looking

forward to being here.

Some background:

My husband's name is . We have been married 6.5 years.

Our daughter is Kylie Rose. She just turned 7 months yesterday.

We live in Deep River, Ontario, which is 2 hours NW of Ottawa.

Kylie had a routine infant hearing test when she was 2 days old. She got a

referral on both ears and has since had 3 more attempts at the BERA (brain

stem) test, but she always refuses to go to sleep. She's a very extroverted

little gal and always wants to " visit " with the audiologists. =)

On Monday Kylie saw an ENT at the Children's Hospital (CHEO) in Ottawa. He

ruled out fluid in the middle ears (which had been there, but is now gone,

PTL!) and wax. Long story short, he managed to get some audiologists to

give her some more tests and we finally learned that they are 99.9% sure she

has severe to moderate hearing loss due to nerve damage in the cochlea.

Hearing aids will be a must for her and the audiologist is certain that they

will bring Kylie's hearing up to where it needs to be.

Kylie will have the BERA on Aug. 13. This time they will put her to sleep

first. They had hoped she would fall asleep on her own or be calm enough to

do another type of test, but I know my daughter all too well. If there are

new faces about, she wants to interact. At that time we will learn for

certain what her threshold of hearing is and chart our next course of action

I know that we will need to learn a lot about what it means to have a

hearing impaired child, so that's why I'm here. Also, although I know

several other moms in our small town who have children with special needs, I

don't know of any that have a hearing impaired child. So, I'm also here to

find a support system. We are thousands of miles away from any family, so

we sort of feel we are on our own.

Thanks for reading all of this.

Hi !

I'm very glad to see you on here- you will love this group! Tori says

hi to and Kathleen, and is looking forward to our sunday picnic. (Note

to group- is one of Tori's best friends and is just about the cutest,

smartest girl around!) It was great coming home from work and seeing your post

tonight. I am busy burning dinner, so I'll call you later- I just wanted to

say a big welcome to you! Tc and give the girls a hug from us- & Tori

P.S. Speaking of burning- we went to the theater wednesday night after we

left your place, and minutes after we were seated (popcorn and drinks in hand)

they evacuated the theater! (Because of the fire at Beacon Hill). We finally

got to see it last night... :-)

Hi Alisa!

Welcome to the group! I'm fairly new to this group & I have soaked up all

kinds of information & learned so much from everyone & know you will as

well! Can you tell me what Modini Syndrome is- I'm definitely not familiar

with that...we have a five year old named Zachary who has a profound hearing

loss which was diagnosed last September & he also has microcephaly (a small

head) & autistic tendencies. He wears hearing aids & we've noticed a

difference in him so I think we're on the right path. Hugs to & Hannah

from Zachary (what beautiful names!)
