Guest guest
Pam, I found the same thing when looking at swings...I couldn't believe the prices! I don't think anywhere I went did I find a swing for less then $70...and I went to baby stores, dept stores, all different types of stores. Then my mom was doing her infamous Saturday morning activities (garage sales!) and she called to tell me she saw 2 swings...one was a 3-speed for $20 and the other a 6-speed for $40...I asked her to get the $20 one (I don't need 6 speeds!) because that's a good price after what I saw in the store! It is in great condition and when I was at Toys R Us registering I saw the exact same model for $90! So if you don't mind it not being brand new, I would definately recommend looking into gargae sales or even going to a second-hand baby store...I mean how much wear and tear does a swing get?! -AmyR
Guest guest
Viciki, Boy, sounds like you had some fun with Blake spitting up! (smile) Thanks for mentioning that the formula stains. (I haven't quite decided if or how long I would breastfeed for) and I would of never thought about formula staining clothes (I guess I would of learned the hard way! lol!!) Sounds like the cloth diapers are extremely handy! I am so glad I have you all to help me out.....it means alot to me! Thank you! Re: SusaN* ,Cloth diapers are wonderful for burping the baby and if the baby spitsup....Blake was a big time puker, every time you sat him up he spit up alittle bit, it took him about 6-9 months to stop doing that! The clothdiapers really really came in handy to mop up his mess (on his face andclothes and on MY clothes!), the other kids never did really spit up,but occasionally they did. Mikaela is on formula now, and it stainsclothes so bad that I use them to tuck under her chin before I give hera bottle, then throw it on my shoulder to burp her.Vicki
Guest guest
Vicki, OMG, I had no idea their nails were attached to the skin beneath in the beginning. Thanks for clueing me in......Sorry it had to take you until the 4th one to figure it out.....ouch!! (smile) You are really helpful. Guess I should add the neosporin my ever growing list of things to get......lol! ,I forgot to tell you too, when you clip the baby's nails the very firsttime you have to be really really really careful because the nail islike attached to the skin beneath it. You think you are just cuttingnail and oops! then their little finger starts to bleed! It took meuntil my 4th baby to figure this out! I think with Mikaela I let the gofor awhile or I just tore them off because at first the do tear offeasily. One book said if you do accidentally cut their little fingers tojust dap neosporin on it. (with kids you need LOTS Of neosporin around!)Vicki
Guest guest
wow vicki, you are tall... I am just barely four foot nine!! I always wished I could be tall...but hey, we always want what we don't have!! Now that I am older, I don't mind being so short since for some stupid reason people seem to think I am younger because I am small!! The down side is that its' very hard to get clothes to fit so I don't look like I am twelve!! How tall is your dh?? lisa r
Guest guest
Vicki, I will definitely let you know about any weird couples we have in our class!! LOL!! It should be interesting since we will be there all day, from 10-4!! Ok, a three yr old who was not talking....and that is normal??.....ok. You would think some warning bells would of went off or something but I guess not. (I'll probably be the opposite and freak over every little thing that I don't "think" in normal. lol!) I think I remember you telling us about the not taking a bath after your water breaks comment...that is too funny. (I'm a first timer at this and I even know that is impossible) Boy, you all did gut the whole room!! I think I will leave the painting and bordering to Don (and he will probably agree!!) I figure once we get around to actually cleaning the room out and boxing things up, things should start to take shape alittle fasting. I brought the Winnie-the-Pooh Valence for the window and the bedding and all already, I am not talented enough to make things, unfortunately. ,If you do have a weird couple in the class, you have to share theircomments with us, ha ha! I'm mean! The couple we had in our class areextra weird....their 3 year old wasn't talking yet and they thought thatwas perfectly normal....hmmmm, the guy thought the reason you couldn'ttake a bath after your water broke was because the baby coulddrown...(ok, it's not even breathing yet..)......small town, we stillrun into alot of those people! The class should be fun, and you'lllearn lots. The room will come together soon. I waited to long to doours, then I was REALLY uncomfortable painting, and putting border up,but we totally gutted the room, new drywall, new closet, new carpet, newtrim board, etc....so we had a LONNNNNGGGG way to go and we waited tolong. We had everything up and ready by the time she was born though, but I was still making the curtains and crib set the week before. :)Vicki
