Guest guest
I think it SUCKS!!! I had surgery a month ago on the 2nd of April. I'm tired of pureed food, i'm tired of feeling sick for about 10 min after everytime I eat, I want food.......real food. I wish I would've never had done this. I have only lost 24 lbs. I thought it would be more. I should've just stayed on the diet I was on before surgery. I would be losing weight just as fast and wouldn't be nearly so miserable!! in MI
Guest guest
, Do not lose heart....we all go through the... " why did I do this " . Mine happened the first time, two weeks post-op, when I went to my favorite Mexican restaurant with my family....and all I dare try was refried beans....had to sit there and look at people gorging themselves....cause in essence...the portion sizes that most restaurants give us is a leading factor in overeating...this too shall pass! Be patient...in the end I would do it again in a heartbeat! Keep your chin up! Carol Matar Post Op - 10/31/03 Lap RNY - Dr. Adam Naaman, Houston, TX 405/278/135 - 126 pounds in 6 months woo hoo! Guest guest
Vickie...My prayers are with you. Alice hardestyal hardesty@... Surgery Well, this is it. I am currently 12 hours away from being on the losing side. I don't feel the least bit nervous, and everyone keeps asking me if I am. I think what I am feeling is excitement. I feel like I'm just ready to get this show on the road. I would appreciate any prayers. They go such a long way. Guest guest
Hi all! Boy do I need some suggestions! I had surgery on Thursday for what was supposed to be an ovarian cyst. I had the big C when I was 27 and had a hysterectomy then, but they left the ovaries. When the doc got in there, things were much worse than he thought, so the laparoscopy turned into full-fledged surgery with 3 small incisions and one large one and scraping a lot of scar tissue off of my intestines and liver. Ovaries were totally removed, too, so I'll be slamming full speed ahead into menopause in a few weeks; something I'm NOT looking forward to (I'm 47). Meanwhile, I'm supposed to be on a bland diet and bed rest for two weeks (I have potty privileges and I'm to walk slowly around my house three times a day for 10 minutes each time. I was doing so well on Phase one; I lost 9 pounds in 17 days. What can I eat so that I don't gain it right back?? I'm restricted to no seeds, nuts, raw fruits or veggies, or anything that could cause gas. That pretty much cuts out EVERYTHING South Beach! If anyone has any ideas, I sure could use them. A few prayers would help, too, if anyone is so inclined. Thanks in advance for any help! ellen
Guest guest
I hope you're feeling a little better now. Sounds like one heck of a surgery! I would stay on plan with the things I can: sf jello, broth, etc. Then, I would supplement with the lower fat, lower calorie versions of other things. We can have some kind of crackers and bread on SBD. You'll probably just have more than we can, because you have to eat something! You'll do fine if you try to keep the fat and sugar low. ie
Guest guest
Hi ellen - Well, you can certainly count on my prayers for your speedy recovery! Wow, you have been through a tough surgery. Of course you should check with your doctor, but I would think you could eat some of the following and stay reasonably within SB recommendations: Broth and consomme, sugar free jello, SF vanilla or plain yogurt, white meat chicken and turkey, scrambled eggs, maybe some cottage cheese. Not terribly exciting, but it's temporary! All the best to you, and hope you're feeling great soon. Nikki ellen wrote: Hi all! Boy do I need some suggestions!
