Also, sthose with autism and Asperger's syndrome do indeed often show an idiot savante phenomonon and could be mind blistering at chess and these conditions are suffered more by men. They could be great chess champions - and tiotal wackos and dunces at everything else.

My 18-year-old son has an autism-disorder that is most closely akin to Asperger's. This young man can tell you, in about ten seconds computation time, which day of the week Xmas fell on in 1986, and what everyone was wearing at dinner. I'd bet he could beat Mike at chess, even tho I likely could not.

My son has Autism and Asperger's Syndrome. He isnt a great chess player or a

wacko or dunce. He is a person, with strengths & weakness - just like you.

My son as well. Many with Asperger's have higher IQs, and it is supposed to be a diagnostic requirement that they be at least average. My son, however, fits Asperger's to a T except for being slightly below average IQ.

Certainly Stefan is a person with strengths and weaknesses, but he has his fascinating traits (such as an ability to recall dates and project them into the future that is simply mind-boggling) -- just like you. :)
