The most common cause of constipation is not drinking enough water.

The process is:

You body requires a certain amount of water to exist. If one is not taking

in enough, the body must find it elsewhere. The only place is the feces.

The body will remove water from your waste. What happens is the stool

becomes small and hard. Also because it is so small, it moves through your

system much, much slower. Because it's so small and hard, it becomes so

hard to deficate one must strain hard. Causing or making hemorroids worse.

--i can totally relate to your constipation problem..i have been

fighting this for a year now...i have tried the lactulose syrup

(worked for about a month then nothing)stool softeners, fiber

products, milk of mag.,mineral oil and nothing works...i did some

research on the internet and am presently trying this.. aloe vera

juice, flax seeds ground over steel cut oats, prunes, smooth move tea

and v8 juice...i have to use a suppository 1 every hour for 2 hours

then give myself an enema..then the next day do the same..if your

lower bowels arent cleaned out first the oral products cannot move

the soften stool through...so i end up doing suppositories everyday

and 2 enemas a week..i have bleeding hemarroids and am constantly

dealing with this issue..if i dont stay on top of it...its like

trying to pass a baseball through a garden hose...i would appreciate

any ideas too!!!i walk everyday at work (12 hour shifts) and drink 1

1/2 liters of water a day...also look up colonic massage on the

internet..this has helped me break up the stool and is easy to do.i

am thinking about getting a colonic done..i dont know much about it

though but i dream of having a flushed out colon...i know i would

feel better and probably lose 10 lbs, too! let me know what works for

you.

Beverly,

To be able to answer this, it would really be helpful if you would

provide what you have been eating and the method of

preparation (cooked, pureed, raw, skins on/off, etc). Also, how

much fluid is being taken in and what are you drinking (water,

juice/water, coffee, etc.).

It is hard to make suggestions or help brainstorm without

knowing what's being eaten.

Go ahead and get the book, it's not that expensive, doesn't take an

enormous amount of time to read and has the info you will be

needing. As for speeding up her recovery, serve all her fruits and

veggies well cooked (easier to digest) for now. I believe there is a

table of suggested first, second, third foods to try on

pecanbread.com. This is meant not as a requirement but as a guide

(but a good one for troubled tummies).

Getting 100% on the diet (if not already)and peeling (deseeding as

My little celiac presented with consitpation. Learned that kids need 2.5 grams of fiber per year of age daily. Make sure your little one is getting enough daily fiber (lacking in many GF diets) - this will help the constipation issue. Kerri
