Guest guest
I will jump in here and tell you that Doctor Sinnott was trained by Doctor Trentham. Dr. Sinnott warned me to get the name brand Minocin. He said often times that the generic does not do the job as there is a 20 degree difference allowed. That means you can take a generic one day and it is 20 degrees less potent on Monday and on Tuesday it is 20 degrees more potent. So you have varied a full 40 degrees difference in strength within `24 hours! Warm regards to all, Babs56p@... wrote: > From: Babs56p@... > > Hi Jude: Thanks for feedback. Guest guest
Thanks, Chris. I KNEW I didn't know everything but sometimes it jumps up and bites me on the butt before I can get out of the way! Now I am even MORE impressed by Dr. Sinnott. I know each of his patient sees a movie with Dr Brown in it, which I thought very good. Thank you for helping me to know more. Always trying to stretch that brain! Warmest regards, :>)) Adlard wrote: > From: " Adlard " <cadlard@...> > > Dr. Sinnott was trained by Dr. McPherson Brown, many years before Dr. > Trentham came on the scene. > > Chris. > > >From: Bob Fain <BobFain@...> > > > >I will jump in here and tell you that Doctor Sinnott was trained by Doctor > > >Trentham. Guest guest
..Hi.......just got back from the pharmacist and here's what she said: MINOCIN IS THE BRAND NAME FOR MINOCYCLINE (think we've already established that....the analagy of " as Kleenex is to tissues " is very well put) THE GENERIC MINOCYCLINE BY LEDERLE IS 100% EQUAL WITH ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE IN ANY WAY TO MINOCIN. (these were her exact words),and... IF YOUR DOCTOR WRITES THE SCRIPT WITHOUT SPECIFYING " MINOCIN " , the perscription-filler will automatically use the Lederle. She also said 95% of people on this med for whatever reason use the generic. .......So, skeptical that I am.....my next question is for those of us who are taking it, " how do we know for sure the generic is working as dilligentely as " the real thing " would? Comments and opinions please? I feel this is an important and long term issue for us. Thanks ....and Babs, I also questioned her on 50 vs 100.....said all of what she gives out is the same color combination which is greenish/opaque on half and those tiny yellow pellets on the other half. You'd think ALL the pharmacists would be consistant, but that would be too easy on us! Judy (Keels)
Guest guest
Hi Jude: Thanks for feedback. It may be that your particular pharmacist would fill the script with Lederle generic if the dr. didn't specifically indicate Minocin, but the first time I had my script filled - even though Dr. Trentham specifically wrote " no substitutes " - they screwed up and gave me some mongrel brand generic. It definitely was not even Lederle generic. (One of my many hissy fits at CVS.....) Today, when I started questioning pharmacist, she snottily responded, " If the script said Minocin, we would give you the brand name " . Of course, I responded, " Well, that's not what happened the first time! " She realized I was not just calling to heckle as the conversation progressed and actually became quite informative from that point on. Mark had asked me if Dr. Trentham had an opinion on the Lederle generic vs. the brand name. As I responded, I will see him on March 7th and will ask him, and post his opinion on that to the list. Until then, I can only say that he was extremely adamant that I take only the brand name Minocin. This was in a follow-up phone call specifically addressing the issue, when I found out I had been given that (unknown) generic at first. Babs RA 8/98, DX 4/99, AP 11/99 200 mg. Minocin 2.5 mg. Methotrexate 112 mcg. Synthroid 2 mg. Hytrin 10 mg. Lipitor Mestinon Vits. & Misc. Suplmts.
Guest guest
Your pharmacist must be joking (see excerpt below) I suspect they will use the generic that offers them the greatest profit potential. In my case (Walmart), they offered me the generic by Barr. I had to specifically request Lederle's generic. Guest guest
I have a suggestion. Let's all ask our local pharmacist about the generic. Tell them the story I heard about the ingredients not being from the US and see if they will investigate for us? a Carnes rheumatic Re: Minocin - Perscription? > From: Judkeels@... > > .Hi.......just got back from the pharmacist and here's what she said: > > MINOCIN IS THE BRAND NAME FOR MINOCYCLINE (think we've already established > that....the analagy of " as Kleenex is to tissues " is very well put) > THE GENERIC MINOCYCLINE BY LEDERLE IS 100% EQUAL WITH ABSOLUTELY NO > DIFFERENCE IN ANY WAY TO MINOCIN.
