2nd pg question

Hello all! First I wanted to say thanks for all the well wishes you

all gave me a couple weeks ago. I never responded, but I wanted you

all to know that I appreciate all the kind words.

Second, I'm not sure if you remember, but this is my second pg since

my wls. I know that every pg is different, but I just thought this

was a weird situation. Ok, I know that a good portion of people

who've had wls dump. I have never been one of those fortunate people.

I do control my sugar intake, but I'm able to eat quite a bit more

than most and not come anywhere near dumping (not that I test the

waters, because I don't). Since my wls almost 2 years ago I think

I've dumped 3 times. And all 3 times it was from ice cream, which I

avoid like the plague now. lol With this pg at about 5 weeks or so I

started having morning sickness, ok all day sickness that tends to

get even worse when I eat. I know, not good. I do make myself eat and

take my vitamins even though I really don't wanna. lol OH AND, the

kicker, I dump now????

I'm not sure how many of you have had a second pg since wls, but I'm

wondering if this is a common thing? Especially since I've never had

a problem before. Any thoughts or input or suggestions would be

appreciated.

Thanks!

that's a good question..you would think that would happen w/ your first

pregnancy after WLS as well..I do know that I had terrible morning

sickness(like you..all day and eating made it worse) but is better now..I

don't dump as easy though..

Jana,

It really is weird. When I got pg with my dd, I suddenly could eat a

lot more. And believe me I did. It was like I could never get enough

food. I was always hungry. I lost the whole time I was pg (40 lbs

total), which shocked me, especially with the way I was eating. Since

I found out I was pg this time, I've lost 5 pounds. So I'm assuming

that I will do like I did with my dd.

Now suddenly with this pg, I'm back to not being able to eat very

much, I'm not hungry, I feel sick, plus I dump now. It's almost like

I'm about 4 or 5 months out from my rny again plus the dumping. Very

weird! Maybe someone around here has been through this too. I really

wish I could talk to my surgeon. I'm sure he would have some insight.

But unfortunately he has closed his practice. :o(

Anyway, I hope this morning/all day sickness passes the way yours

did. I know a lot of people once they get out of the first trimester

are ok. But there are others that a sick as a dog the whole time.

Only time will tell I guess.

janice,

This is my first and only pregnancy following WlS LOL.

I never had severe morning sickness with my other two pregnancies, I

had evening sickness with my twins and it was more like severe

heartburn and I would throw up occasionally after eating dinner.

This pregnancy...WOW was I extremely ill, for the first 14 weeks. I

am now 16 weeks and although i occasionally throw up i can usually

tolerate most foods. Along with the severe all day sickness I

couldn't eat either, if I looked at food naseau set in. Since I have

been pregnant I have lost aprox 18lbs, which doesn't make my doctor

to happy. Finally it seems like it may be stabalizing.

I am at high risk due to previous pre-eclampsia in my two other

pregnancies, other than that issue I would not be high risk.

Good luck, and I hope the sickness passes soon for you.

Janice,

I'm going through the same thing, except for the dumping (I've

never dumped, though, so that's not new). Even on the rare day

when I feel " hungry, " I find I can't eat much because I'm not

eating much the other days. Still, I thought I'd gain weight from

the insulin I had to go on and all the snacks you have to eat as a

diabetic. But my OB says I've lost 4 pounds. Weird. (Especially

since I can't wear some of my old clothes already, from bloating I

guess!)
