Guest guest
Hello all and thanks for all of your wisdom! My doc said to come back in 4 to 6 weeks to get my TSH levels tested again. How long would you suggest? Also, where can I get my thyroid antibodies checked? Will most physicians do this if requested? Thanks! Tammy JUST ABOUT EVERY MONTH I HAD AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY THYROID DOC AND LEFT WITH LAB PAPERS EVERY VISIT. WHY DON'T YOU SEE WHAT HE ORDERED AND YOU CAN ALWAYS ASK THE LAB PERSON TAKING YOUR BLOOD THEN IF NOT T4,T3 YOU CAN GO BACK TO THE DOC ON YOUR VISIT ANDKNOW EVERYTHING YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. Guest guest
Hi Tammy, I'm not sure about your doctor but it doesn't hurt to ask. I would tell you doc that you would like to know if your hypothyrodism is automimmune thyroiditis aka Hashimoto's (antibodies). It's good to know has caused your hypothyrodism. When I requested a TPO antibodies test my doc OK'd it. I told her that my mother had a goiter when she was in her thirties. I would also request a Free T3 and Free T4 test. Guest guest
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, when it comes to your periods. You're so used to hurting before your periods, that you're thinking something is wrong because you're not. Your thyroid hormone status is improving, so that your periods are normalizing. This is the way that it SHOULD be. I still have the falling hair with every single dosage change, either up or down. Some have said that their hair loss has improved. Mine did for awhile, but has started falling again in recent months. A few questions > I was dx with Hashi's and I am currently on 75mcg of Synthroid, been on > it for 2 weeks. Guest guest
Hi, It will take your body a great while, 6 to 8 weeks for each adjustment in your levels of medication for your body to fully adjust to having Synthyroid in your body. For some, this only takes two, maybe three adjustments in the levels of the medication to reach what the body needs to presently replace what it is no longer producing, ie: T4, T3, T2, T1, and Calaci..(? sp?) For others it may take many adjustments over many months/years to get the body to stabilize. In other words, your body hasn't finished adjusting to the new level of medication that you are currently on...give it a chance. The fact that your cramps/PMS hasn't reared its ugly head is a blessing and a good indication that something is workin right for the moment. As for the hair, this too shall pass as your body is given the time to heal and the proper level of medication is reached, in time. There is no quick fix for the Thyroid gland not functioning correctly...nor is there a " set " amount of meds that you will be on for the rest of your life...the bodies' needs change with the age and condition of the body tissues. What dosage works for you now may not work 5-10 years from now. Thus the need to educate yourself on how to keep an eye on your body and the various symptoms that will let you know when to seek a increase/decrease in your meds. I would also recommend that you take a high quality B-complex vitamin along with a really good general vitamin and an Essential oil supplement...Thsi helps feed the keraton found in our hair and skin... Our bodies are not as efficient as they once were getting the trace minerals and amino acids and such out of our foods as the body was before the need to treat the Thyroid...thus, make it easy for it to feed itself the nutrients that the body now needs more of.... Guest guest
It just occured to me this morning that my cycles were probably getting shorter and shorter over the last year. I went from 33 day cycle down to a 27 day cycle (last one before starting meds). Hopefully I am just getting back on track and getting back to my normal 33 day cycle. Thank you for the vitamin suggestions. Is a prenatal ok instead of a general one a day? My gyn has me on those (taken at night of course so I don't mess with the synthroid). ~ > Hi, > It will take your body a great while, 6 to 8 weeks for each > adjustment in your levels of medication for your body to fully > adjust to having Synthyroid in your body. > For some, this only takes two, maybe three adjustments in the levels > of the medication to reach what the body needs to presently replace > what it is no longer producing, ie: T4, T3, T2, T1, and Calaci..(? > sp?) Guest guest
Try a real good quality B-Complex 100. Like solaray or source naturals. This was the way I was able to get my periods regular and diminish the PMS symtoms. laura c. Guest guest
Hi, I don't see why not... We all could use some extra folic acid and iron...of which if our bodies don't use them up the water soluable vits will be flushed from our bodies. Guest guest
Dawn, It would be impossible for us to give you a prognosis for her. I do know that when the cancer is in the liver it is serious. I will keep you both in my prayers. Most of the time breast cancer doesn't cause any pain. However there are ladies here that have had pain and it did turn out to be breast cancer but its not usually the case. Hugs nne Breast Cancer Patients Soul Mates for Lifehttp://www.geocities.com/chucky5741/breastcancerpatients.html Check out my breast cancer ornaments at:http://www.geocities.com/chucky5741/bcornament.htmlalso check out my other ornaments and lots of nice gifts at:http://www.cancerclub.com A few questions My MIL was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago with IDC and DCIS on Monday we were told it had metastisized(SP?) to her liver. She has a bunch of health problems...lymphedema, diabetes, diabetic neuropathy, degenerative disc disease,COPD, bad kidney function, emphysema, to name a few. My question is does anyone know the prognosis for what she has. I know no one knows for sure, but I just need to know your opinions. I just have this hunger for the truth and can't get a straight answer from her onco. I know in my heart it isn't good and have to be prepared for the worst, ir the best. I am her caregiver. She has been in the hospital since January 10th. They can't get the swelling to go down in her arm and her legs are very swollen. One more question this has to do with me. I have been having some pain deep in my left breast. It is not a constant pain just hits me sometimes. I have a mammogram scheduled for the 13th.Thanks for your help,Dawn
Guest guest
Dawn, why is her onc being so ambiguous about her to you.... Or does he just not know? Can you sit with him and ask him straight out? What is her age, if you don't mind my asking?
