Guest guest
I just wanted to be excited with you lot for a minute. My introduction to this list was called " I'm Depressed " or something ...... I felt awful about having PND and was self-flaggelating (spelling? - if you know I don't want to know how you know !!?!) a bit. But I was at the Doc today and she says I can start coming down now and I should be drug free in 6 - 7 weeks !!! I'm happy about it but a teeny bit scared too - I don't want to be depressed again! Who else has come off antidepressants after PND ? Was it as good as I am hoping (came of them before for non PN depression and it was great!). And while I'm here - thanks for all the help you've all been through the time I've felt like a bad Mummy - cos I feel so much better and a lot of it is down to you lot being so nice with all my moans -- it's nice to have good news for you for once. Hope I can be supportive myself to someone in the future. Thanks a lot Totally happy Mum to (6/2/00) and totally happy DW to Jurgen (older than me, anyway)

Guest guest
Brilliant news , >. But I was > at the Doc today and she says I can start coming down now and I should be > drug free in 6 - 7 weeks I have been taking St 's Wort for PND (self prescribed) since July this year, I think I have come out of the PND now as I tend to forget to take the pills. I feel great and much better able to cope these days. I hope all goes well with you too.

Guest guest
I had PND after DS2 was born (he was 2.5 months old when I was diagnosed). I was prescribed Seroxat antidepressants by my GP. After seeing the GP every week for a month and then once a fortnight for a month or so, she decided that I could come off the medication (I was on them for 3 months only - the minimum is usually 6 months from what she said). All I did, following my GP's advice, was to take one pill every other day for a week (I was just on one a day) and then I could stop. I didn't have any ill effects coming off the tablets, although I did have some side effects whilst taking them (spaced out feeling for the first couple of weeks, dry mouth, constipation...). I can't be much more helpful than that but felt that, once the GP said I could come off the tablets, the battle with PND was more than half over. I still had the odd " low " day and suffer from PMS more than I did before the PND but coming off the tablets certainly was a light at the end of the tunnel. Well done on coming out the other end of that tunnel, . Glad you feel that the list has been in someway helpful.
