I did healthcheckusa recently and my results were

delayed as well . . . I finally reached someone by

phone and he was able to email me my results. He

didn't know why they weren't accessible online . . .

it is frustrating -- I know!!

Hi,

Can you give the range for the T4? It's hard to

comment without that because apparently labs use

different ranges. If it is like mine the T4 range is

0.8-1.8, and yours is pretty low. It should probably

be at the top of the range. Also, it's important to

get a Free T3 test done. T3 is the active thyroid

hormone so it's very important to test, but

unfortunately many doctors don't. Also it will let us

know if your body is converting the T4 to T3.

I don't know too much about diabetes but I would

suggest getting a blood glucose monitor (they aren't

that expensive from the drugstore) and testing

yourself from time to time since it runs in your

family. Also eating a low glycemic diet would probably

be beneficial -- is for everyone even if diabetes

doesn't run in the family!

Hi, Well, these test results may be normal for some people, however

they are not for others. It really depends upon what is going on in

and with the body.

Let me ask you a few questions here to get a better picture of your

test...

First off, Why are you asking about your bloodtests?

Did your doc give you a diagnosis? and if so what was it?

Are you taking any supplements, as in a Thryoid pill of some sort?

Are you taking any vitamins? Multi, extra B complex, iron, vit c,

zinc???

The T4 test, was it for Free T4 or Total T4?

Looking forward to your answers, to see what might be up...

The tests you had are nearly obsolete. The tests you need are the Free T4

and the Free T3, as those show what is actually available in your blood for

your body cells to use. No guesswork with those two tests, except that most

people's bodies need different amts, so not everyone will even fit the

general guidelines for testing. It's how you FEEL on a particular dose.

That's why it sometimes takes so long to tweak dosing with some people.

It's taking me forever because I have the formidable Hashimoto's Disease.

Antibodies like to say " Fooled ya! " It LOOKS like what you had is the Total

T4 (all bound and unbound hormone together) and the T3 Uptake. They are all

indirect estimates of what's being available in the body. Free T3 and Free

T4 are both direct.

Hi,

in answer to your questions...

The paper I recieved from the Dr. said that the blood work

was " normal and " no follow up is needed. "

my thyroid gland is enlarged and I am having symptoms of thyroid

problems.

I haven't actually spoken with the Dr since then.

I am not on any thyroid medicine. but I was a couple of years

ago ... according to the dr to boost the affectiveness of my

antidepressant (which I am also no longer on)

I am taking a wonderful vitamin form Melaleuca. It is actually

absorbed into the system within 3 hours (i believe taht is the time

frame) and I don't know what I would have done without them because

the fatigue is nearly overwhelming as it is. It is a multi-vitamin

with iron for women.

and finally...

the paper merely says T4 it doesn't specify anything further perhaps

I can call the lab and find out...

I will try

Thanx

hummm, okay... Well, the TSH test was run with the old ranges...the

new ones end with the upper end being 3.x...no wheres near the 5

range.

And the total, for me and my understanding of these things, really

do not give us a clear picture of how your body is breaking down the

T4 into T3 or T2 etc. Thus I, for one, prefer seeing the Free's

being tested... Free T4 and Free T3 tells us whether the body is

abosrbing and breaking down the T4 and how much of the Free T3 is

available in the bloodstream for use by the muscles.

Now a few more questions...

You mention that you are living with some syptoms...what are they?

Can you describe them to us?

Have you had a chance to take your rising basal tempurature?

Taking your temp through out the day really doesn't tell us a whole

lot other than a body is active and thus is has heated up or cooled

off the bodies energies field. Thus taking it before a person

rises...

the best thing to do here is direct you to their website...

www.melaleuca.com

(this just totally threw me cause i was going to do it by steps so i

could direct you...and they have changed the beginning format...LOL)

click on product store

under shop by category, click on health, when that opens click on

vitamins adn minerals

scroll down, find vitality for women multivitamin adn click

then you can click on product label to see what is in it

there are other informational things you can click on there too

i hope this helps

i'm not trying to do business here, but if anyone looking at the site

has any questions you can email me off list at paynen3@...

please put " melaleuca questions " in the byline, that way it will go

directly into the right folder in my outlook express.

these are really great all natural products...

but my question is

why do you want to know if it has any soy derivitives?

is that a good or a bad thing??

thanx for everyones help

In the past (now I can't find it at my local library) I had read " Is

Your Thyroid Making You Fat? " and following the suggestion in it I

had taken my temperature every morning for quite a while. It was

always down around 97 or lower (but that has been around a year ago I

think). I also did the 1000 calorie a day diet for a month and did

not lose any weight. I found it difficult to reach 1000 calories

most days unless I had a pop or other sugary items. It seemed like a

lot of food to me and most of the time I don't eat a whole lot (which

i know in itself is a problem).

From looking at different sites and books these are some of the

symptoms that I have found they attribute to hypothyroidism that I

deal with pretty regularly...

fatigue

loss of appetite

always cold

milky discharge form breasts

muscle cramps

frequent headaches

difficulty concentrating

slow movements

constipation

difficult hair (dry and brittle no matter how good a shampoo I'm

using)

eyelids that feel sticky (this one was new to me.. I thought it was

just because I was always tired)

irregular periods (this one has just been recent)

tingling in hands and feet

weight gain

enlarged thyroid

I feel like a hypochondriac writing all of this down but I also feel

that you people here won't judge me that way because you have been

here too

also, something I read recently suggested stiffness in joints and

such... I wake up most mornings and can barely walk because I ache

so bad in my back and my legs, is this related?

I am only 35 but swear my body must be twice that age.

My sincerest thanx for all your help and information
