When I first saw my scars at the holiday in belgium, I thought they

were at least 14 inches. I called my wife and told her what I thought

how long they were. Well,...when I did get home, my wife measured

both incisions and they were 11 inches each. Goes show to show how

some men exagerate length:)

By the way,..I'm 6 " 2, 190lbs if for reference, length vs weight =

incision length.

And one more item,...I seemed to gain almost a quarter inch in

height. So, if any of you are excepting a bilateral, measure yourself

before the surgery and see if you gain or loss any height.

Mike I go along with what you said. I'm 6' 5 " and around 300lb. Incision

lengths 13 " & 12 " .

Trudy I have to disagree with you to an extent. If some of you ladies had 2 x

12 " incisions I would be very surprised.

The last paragraph of your post makes a lot of sense. However I just wanted

to share an epiphany I had this morning while lying in the dentist's chair

having a crown fitted.

When I talked to my dentist about incision size, he said he learned at dental

school that the intelligence of an endodontist was directly proportional to

the size of the hole they worked with. Ergo, e.g., i.e and therefore, the

larger the incision, the easier it is to perform the surgery. Why work in a

small

hole when you can work in a big one - more elbow room? Maybe that's why the 30

mins vs. 2.5 hours too?

Makes sense to me. And besides my son says I'm too fat to wear a Speedo. (I'm

6 ft. and 210 but hardly fat.)

incision. That way yours would be 5.7 inches long.

Dr. Gross specializes in the short incision for his hip surgeries

whether you're a guy or a gal. I wish one his men patients would

post. They have short incisions also.

But in the end it doesn't matter the length really if you had a good

You're right it is a long while, but I'll pass on this one. I'm glad I read

beyond the first 3 sentences because for a brief second or two I was getting hot

and bothered wondering what was pro rata to height. Length of hand = 8.1/4 " ?

Shoe size = 14? I just wondered what was coming next!

Good things come with small and large incisions :-)

I am in agreement with Trudy - if I am mobile and painfree after the resurf, I

don't care how long the incision is. And here's something else to think about -

the shorter the length of time a surgeon has to have you opened up on the

operating room table, the less the chance of infection. So I'd opt again for the

45 minute operation vs the 2 and a half hour for sure. (not to mention how much

more anaesthetic they have to give you for a longer operation, and the longterm

effects that can have).
