Hi Cyndi,

I have also heard that absorbing enough nutrients can be a problem with

bypass. I am glad the stapling has worked so well for you.

Hi Cristy

I can't say I've ever encountered anyone with IgAN who had that. I did have a

boss once who had the surgery though. It sure worked for him. We went from

calling him the " round major " to " the shadow " within a matter of weeks.

Losing weight could definitely help reduce BP meds. Good luck.

Re: IgA and Gastric Bypass

Hello:

Just wondering if anyone knows someone that has IgA and has undergone

Gastric Bypass surgery.

Currently, I am waiting for a date for surgery. I am hoping this

will prolong my kidney function.

My creatinine fluctuates between 1.5 and 1.8. At one point in time I

had 3,900 mg protein and I am down to 1,800 mg/24hr urine. I take

massive amounts of Captopril. I also take Lasix 20 mg, twice a day,

and Clonodine 0.2mg at bedtime. I feel like I take pills all day

long. Maybe after I lose most of my excess weight, they will lower

the dose of some of my meds?

My sister in law had bypass…she went from a size 26 to a size 6….she looks

terrible…her once glowing skin and hair are no longer healthy.  That extreme

a loss left her wrinkled too.

Thanks!

The first 30 pounds fell off. The best part is that I don't get hungry

anymore. :-)
