Guest guest
Hi , It is always better to not smoke, but I am not sure what the requirements are for donating a kidney in France. In the US, it does not preclude donating a kidney, although organs from non-smokers are generally in better shape. Guest guest
Hi , How was the wedding and the honeymoon? I would love to see pictures of your wedding. I hope you have had some time to enjoy being a wife before your nursing classes start up again.
Guest guest
I hope someone else who is a kidney donor will answer, but as far as I know, they ask a donor to stop smoking at least 3 months before the surgery. It's more for the benefit of the donor him/herself than for the recipient, simply because smoking adds some risk to the process as far as the donor is concerned. Pierre For kidney donors Hello everybody I ask the question in order to answer to another one on the Renaloo Forum. The person doesn't speak English, so i ask for her. Can we give a kidne if we smoke or should we absolutely quit smoking for at least... how long ? Guest guest
, If they had to choose between a smoking or a nonsmoking donor, I'm sure they would go with the non. My Aunt , who was my donor last December, had smoked for about 15 years, but quit 2 years prior to surgery. They did more extensive testing on her just to make sure that she was healthy, and sure enough she was. The main things, at least here in the US, that exclude a kidney donor are obviously--diseases such as hepatitis, cancer, diabetes, etc. They are starting to accept donors with high blood pressure because of the fact that they are in such high demand. So, my point is, I believe that if your possible donor is healthy in every way, they will accept her. Good luck to you! > I hope someone else who is a kidney donor will answer, but as far as I know, they ask a donor to stop smoking at least 3 months before the surgery.
