Kari, I may be wrong but didn't you inadvertently do what the doctor

ordered? I believe he says to up our carbs and shock our bodies and then we

start losing again. Wishing you lots more loss BUT only in the weight

department

Love and hugs

According to my doctor, the reason Atkin's works because we are lowering

our calories. When you cut out all that pasta and bread, etc., you

really lower your total caloric intake.

you think that our metabolism has changed since we've been on Atkins for

so long and that now moderation is the key, or a more balanced diet???

ok

here is the plan for peri and menopausal womenthere

are also plans for men, young women, older women and beginners and vegetarian...

anyone wanting one of the other plans i would be happy to post it . this

is from dr Pescatore's book thin for good water

drink your weight in kilograms = your weight divided by 2.2 protein

these are the maximum amts you do not have to eat them2

oz at breakfast4 oz for lunch8

oz for dinner for protein

you are allowed to chose from the following for red meat3

oz per day beef six oz per day

veal or lamb 8 oz per day venisonprocessed

meatsone oz breakfast meats2

oz deli meats ( only roast beef or deli turkey)fishthree

oz shellfish , shrimp, scallops, lobster, crab, oysters , clams ,six

oz herring or white fisheight oz

tuna, salmon, cod, scrod, mackrel, haddock, halibut, sardines, swordfish,

flounderpoultry 3 oz dark meator

6 oz white meatmax three eggs per

daycheese hard cheese two oz

per daysoft cheese 1 oz per dayno

american cheese so its a bit

confusing you have limits per meal plus limits per item vegetablessalad

veggeis 3 cups per dayatkins type

veggies 1/2 cup per daystarchy veggies

not permitted grainsmust

be whole grain 1/2 cup per week or 1 slice of whole grain bread per week

includes pasta as long as it is whole grain nuts

and seeds 1/2 oz of seeds or nuts or five nuts per day no macadamias,

no cashews and no pistacios legumes

1/2 cup per week ( beans, limas, lentils, tofu etc) desserts

unlimited diet gelatin or any dessert you can make from the allowed

foods condimentsbutter

3 tbspolive oil unlimitedmayo

3 tbsplemonjuice 6 teaspvinegar

4 tbspmustard 4 tbsp waterdiet

soda no more than 12 oz per day alcohol

not permittedheavy cream one tbsp fruit

melons and berries up to 1/4 cup per weekhis

other plans are much more liberal but hey as long as i have been stalled

i would guess this is worth giving a try what i think i will do is

cut down my portions of protein and work my way from atkins to this one,

one meal at a time, and see what happens

I bought a food scale to weigh the small amounts. The one I got has

a removable cup on top, so you can fill it with whatever you are weighing.

I also use the little paper cups that you usually see in bathrooms.

They are 3 ounces. I also use a baby spoon and fork, so it seems

like I am eating bigger meals. An egg weighs about 2 ounces. Hope

that helps.

I think you are one of those truely insulin resisitant people then. Both low

fat and low carb work for me, actually lowfat works mucho faster, but who the

heck can stick with that diet plan?? I prefer low carb and definatlely think

low carb is much healther then low fat also.

, do it this way. Add up all the grams (protein, fat and carbo) for

the egg. Then divide 2 (this being the 2 oz the egg weighs according to

) into that number. Mulitply the results by the Protein Grams, this

should give u the protein ounces.

Example. lets say the egg has the 6.24 g protein, .6 g carbs and 1 g fat then

6.24 + .6 + 1 = 7.84

2 / 7.84 = .26

..26 * 6.24 = 1.62 oz

I would say this egg has 1.62 oz of protein.

My thoughts exactly , I mean if you can only eat so many grams of

protein and carbs a day, sounds like this diet is severly restricting

calories. Of couse u will lose weight, but how hungry will u be?
