Guest guest
My mom has had nothing but good luck on the Xeloda. She was a previously healthy 69, but was diagnosed during her pre-op exams with mild emphysema. She was diagnosed out of the blue with stage IV colon cancer in June, 2004, during exploratory surgery, and had a tumor removed. The doctor was worried about side effects and also travel arrangement, since she has to be driven 1.5 - 2 hrs one way for any treatment. He started her on Xeloda within 3 weeks of surgery. I think she's on her 3rd round of it, and the oncologist added Avastin in the last month (one treatment every three weeks). She was prescribed Prednisone and B6 along with the Xeloda. The prednisone (low dose) really helps with appetite, depression, and general well-being. She is also drinking Prosure to gain weight (made by Ensure's makers, Ross Labs, and available through their website.
