Guest guest
Hi, I hope this discussion is only lively and not heated :-) As we have found out several times before, our kids are treated differently and nobody really knows what's right or wrong. There are only good guesses and bad guesses. In our clinic they do one ultrasound of the liver and one extensive bloodwork a year, because they think you have to catch liver disease in its roots and put the patients on Urso immediately (BTW welcome to the list). The same is true with possible vitamin or mineral deficits, hence the bloodwork. They consider xrays to be unnecessary without lung involvement, but if I would ask for an xray or a scan, they won't deny it. That's why we feel comfy with our CF team. I did not think in my last posting about the duration of a scan. Even in good old Germany they have begun to equip clinics with modern scanners, where a full body scan only lasts a minute. Terri, that was great of Connor to lay still for 45 minutes. Another test, which I think is important is the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) to catch glucose intolerance at the very beginning. In Denmark the test is recommended once a year for every pwcf above the age of ten. Bye-bye Torsten, dad of Fiona 4wcf e-mail: aberdeen95@...
