I can't use any of these balms, because of other allergies, but here's what we use in the house: Honeybee Gardens (they use synthetic vitamin E, or did several months ago--call/write to check) Badger unscented healing lip balm Lip Shtick (lemony, made from corn oil) I sometimes make my own balm or ask my friend to make some for me. She uses synthetic E, beeswax, honey, and sunflower oil. She adds pigment powder (generally mineral) and EOs for flavor (I like very mildly scented clove-sweet orange). Additionally, you can try talking to local lip balm makers. A local businesswoman who makes soap and blam told me that she's willing to set aside a couple tubes of lip balm for me *before* she adds her vitamin E (always soy and/or wheat derived) to her batches. Since i have other options, I don't take her up on it. Most of the time, I use Lypsyl Sensitive for chapstick. I don't have ingredients on hand, but it had nothing that triggered a warning flag for me. I can use petroleum products, but cannot use lanolin, aloe, soy, wheat, etc. This one works well for me. ygg
Guest guest
a’s Choice: www.cosmeticscop.com I just checked and I don’t see soy in the ingredients list, but you’ll be better at spotting that than me. It’s good stuff. Laurie lbilyeu@... I am allergic to soy, and most brands of vitamin E are made from soy, especially if they are from a natural source. Also, when you see vegetable oil on a label, it's usually from soy, so it's really hard to avoid. Now it's in lipstick as well as wheat. What I take is Tocotrienols, and from what I have read it's a complex that contains four different compounds of the vitamin E family, and it's derived from rice! You might want to research it on goggle, also ask your doctor if you can take this form instead of the regular one. While I'm on the subject, can anyone recommend a lip gloss or lipstick brand that doesn't have gluten and soy in it? I looked at Burt's Bee's brand today and it has soy and all the ones in the health food store also had soy, or soy and wheat. It doesn't always say soy, but Vit. E. I've been having a terrible time with my lips for a long time. The past few months it's been much worse so that I feel like I have sunburned lips, and I know it's from the lipsticks I have. I have a lot of them, and I keep throwing them out. I thought I would try Bag Balm because it's supposed to be healing, and my lips were on fire as soon as I applied it. I ran back to the bathroom to wash it off my mouth. Any suggestions would be appreciated. After having medical tests today, my husband took me out to breakfast at Denny's. I talked to the waitress about whether they had wheat in their eggs and she had the manager come over to talk to me. They were very nice, and she said she could have them use " fresh " eggs because they were better anyway. She agreed to have them scrambled in butter. So, I'm happy to report they did that, and I had bacon with the eggs, and no problems!! Apparently they use some sort of liquid eggs in many restaurants, and that's probably why they add the flour to them. It did cost more than my husband's breakfast, but that was okay, at least I could eat something because by then it was 11:00 AM and I had been up since 6:45 fasting.
