Guest guest
Hi all, Sorry I haven't been on in a few days--it's been a crazy weekend. I went for my post-coital test on Friday, but the results were not very good. So, their recommendation was for us to do an IUI both Saturday and Sunday (to make things " optimal " ). Sooo, dh needed to get the " deposit " into the office by 8:30 on Saturday morning. Let's just say it was easier said than done. My dh is not the type that can " do it " on demand, so I have learned in a very stressful way. Basically, we weren't able to get it in on time for Saturday's IUI and were advised to have sex instead. So we did-- no problem with that! This morning, we tried for the deposit again. It wasn't easy, but we finally got a sample and I had my IUI this afternoon. They typically like the man to refrain from intercourse for 2 to 5 days for the sample. Well--because we had the post-coital on Friday and then bd on Saturday, there were only 18 hours in between for Sunday's deposit. This left us with a less-than-ideal sperm count for the IUI. :>( I'm not feeling very optimistic about this cycle, but I am just so glad this is over. It was very stressful to have an appt. and then not being able to keep it. And then I felt bad for dh because there was so much pressure on him. He kept looking at the clock because we needed to get it there by a certain time and it can only be an hour old. He felt extra pressure because he knew everything I had been through and how important it was to me. I admit I was going to kill him ... But, it's over and I am now in the 2ww--Thank God. Tomorrow I start progesterone suppositories and then I go in for an U/S on Thursday to see if I need an HCG booster shot. So, that's my hectic weekend in a nutshell. I hope everyone is doing well! Guest guest
Hi there, ! Wow, I have been wondering where you have been but never dreamed that you had been through so much. You and dh sound like you had a very stressful weekend. (I am sorry) I know you said you aren't very optimistic about this cycle but remember I felt that way too, I thought what was the chances to get pg first ttc and with only one tube?....so I will hold out lots of hope for you. I am praying that all the hard work you and dh went through (literally) pays off!! I must say that when I read about dh looking at the clock and don't responsing well under pressure I couldn't help but chuckle alittle. (sorry) I can only imagine how very stressful it was, but the image you drew for us was kind of funny. Good luck with everything and I am sending lots of ******************************************** and +++++++++++++++++++thoughts to you and dh!! I hope you and dh get some rest. Maybe a nice dinner out to get rid of some of the stress. Take care and keep us informed.
Guest guest
Hi , You are right--it is a pretty darned funny image of the clock and all. Actually, it's even funnier because there is more I didn't say. Let's just say we got a movie to try to help but it ended up grossing dh out! (He's not really into that stuff, nor am I. He said he kept thinking why would these women ruin their lives by doing this stuff. I told him he was thinking way too much!!) Very funny now that I think of it. He is so sweet. It's hard because we live 45 minutes away from the RE's office and they need it within an hour at a specific time. So that gave him 15 minutes to do the deed and then get on the road to get in there in time. Not easy. He could have done it there too, but he thought that would really freak him out. I just pray this worked so we don't have to go through that again! Oh, I forgot to mention that I had one more follicle than they originally told me. I had 4 on the right and 1 on the left. Unfortunately, my right side is my ep side, so I'm a little scared about that.
Guest guest
Oh my goodness! Sorry this weekend was so stressful on both of you. did they say anything about trying the post-coital again since it was so long after bd before you had the test? I just can't help but wonder if that played in a role in the results? Well, in any case, I sure hope this 2ww will move along quickly for you and at the end you will see a big fat +! Good luck!!! -AmyR
Guest guest
Hi AmyR-- They basically said that the post-coital test is not the most accurate predictor of if I'll get pg or not, so they don't plan to do another one. They just used it as a benchmark to determine how I'd get the most optimal results (through bd or IUI). So, it looks like I'll be doing IUI from here on out--provided we can work the sample thing out in the future! If not, we always have bd to fall back on! Thanks for the + wishes. I'm going to try very hard not to obsess during this 2ww. My RE's office will be doing a beta automatically at 14 dpo--so I'm not even going to mess with HPTs. Plus, I had the HCG shot to trigger o, and it already gave me pg symptoms (sore boobs), so I wouldn't be able to what's real and what's from the shot. Hope you are feeling well. I am glad dp is coming along and wants to start reading!
Guest guest
, ok, that was funny too! Poor dh, I guess it would be pretty hard to do it on command! Yeah, I know it was stressful while it was going on but to think back on it now must be funny. I pray (for both of you) that you don't have to go through THAT again, but if you did, is there a hotel closer to the RE office that maybe you could stay at or something? (just a thought) I really hope things work out this month! That is good news about the 4 follicles! I know it is hard, but try not to worry about the ep tube, remember, your hsg came back good. I know those aren't 100% but we are going to stay super +!!! (smile) Take care and try to relax alittle, okthat would really
