Cool, I wonder what other cereals they will start changing. The possibilities are endless, really....

I wonder why they are doing this, actually? Hmmmm......

Hello all...As I was walking down the cereal aisle today, I picked up a package of cereal (just for the heck of it!) and was so surprised to find another General Mills mainstream cereal that is GF!! :) I called them directly, just to make sure, and the representative assured me that it IS GF.HOWEVER...Please make sure that you read the labels carefully, because the older version of this cereal was NOT GF. The newest version of Cocoa Puffs (UPC 160068260, Better If Used By: 19Sept06 CECE094402, 13.75 oz. box - this is the size that I checked on) now contains no gluten ingredients. If you are in doubt about a package you are considering, read the ingredients carefully (General Mills will label sources of ingredients if they are wheat, rye, oats or barley), or call them to be sure. It's not a serious cereal, but it's yet another GF choice for our little ones! :) (No, it doesn't replace fries, but they'll still love it :))C

They aren't making Cocoa Puffs with oats any longer?

I really don't know what they're up to. I just know that the box I

picked up by chance (and I still don't know why I did it!) has no oats

in it, nor any other sources of gluten.

But, like I said in my original post, we'll have to read the boxes

very carefully (each time!) to make sure that we're getting the right

ones.

I don't eat oats (not worth the risk of cross-contamination for me),

so I wouldn't have bought it if it had oats in it.

OHH!! THANK YOU GOD!!

This was DS12's FAVORITE cereal last month - pre-gf.

He was soooo upset when I had to get rid of it.

I'm so excited to surprise him when they show up in our stores!!!

That's why I said that you have to read the labels very carefully.

Some of the older version boxes of this cereal still list/contain oats

and/or wheat. The UPC code I gave went along with the best-by date &

code on the top of the box, that's why I gave both numbers.

General Mills will list their ingredients properly, so keep reading

boxes as the newer ones come out and you should soon see boxes without

wheat or oats, but you have to read EVERY SINGLE BOX EVERY SINGLE TIME.

It's worth it though, right? :)
