Guest guest
They usually run a complete amino acid screen (blood) and urine organic acids. I have had the urine organic acid screens done with a random sample and 24 hour collection. I hope your daughter is okay. laurie Reply-To: Date: Fri, 14 Feb 2003 17:00:48 -0000 To: Subject: urine and blood amino acids Thank you to all who replied to my question of diagnosis with muscle biopsy. I have had some urine and blood tests. AS far as I know they were all normal. They were looking for 5 hydroxy indole acetic acid for carcinoid tumor, porphyrins, and 17 ketosteroids. also blood tests for adrenoleukodystrophy. What amino acids do they look for in mitochondrial disorders? I read an article by Cohen and Gold. It was good. I will reread it. My daughter just came in with a cut on her chin and I think it needs a stitch. Will be back later. thanks
