Good Morning Tori,

I sent that first post late last night, and I see Yahoo only sent it out

this morning.

I turned on my computer this AM, wondering how you are. :-)

And then see , after all my talk about how we should all sign our names to

our posts... I forgot to sign that one. <blush>.

So to clear any confusinon, it was ME...

OK, you win :-)

Do I have great karma or what? I just made an appt with an endocrinologist for

Wednesday, completely unaided by a referral! Dr. Rhida Arem is lecturing at a

conference all week, so I couldn't get in to see him until July 18. I plan to

make both appts if I'm around H-town long enough. So, I should expect to get

beta blockers and an atd, possibly ptu? Do I have the lingo down yet?

Thanks to those of you who wouldn't give up on me!

Isn't weight loss what I should expect from a diet? I'm far from bony. I

weighed a puny 105 lbs when at my wedding, 4+ yrs ago; Before my diet, I

weighed in at a whopping (in comparison) 135. I'm short with little bones, I

should weigh no more than 110. How can I tell if I'm losing the weight because

of my diet or because of my thyroid?

You're right. I think I've had thyroid problems for just about my entire life.

No, I'm scared to death. Bad choice of words.

Right again! If memory serves, that particular doctor was nearing retirement

and probably just didn't care. Now, I have to figure out how to get copies of

the MRI films (military hospitals--gotta love them).

You must've been sending me positive energy, because it was a relatively

painless experience!

If I went to the emergency room, I think I'd have a thyroid storm in the waiting

room. The hours of waiting are way more stress than this girl can handle.

You don't have to tell me twice ;-)

Do doctor's get paid on commission for RAI? Why do they push it so much? Did

you hear that laws are being considered that would force doctors to reveal to

their patients any stock they hold in drug companies? Seems they write more

presciptions for drugs developed by the companies they hold stock in--go figure!

Thank you. It worked.

No need. Both she and Pam B. have told me to see an endo and get on

beta-blockers & PTU.

My baptist aunt has one that I've been using. It also has a pulse monitor--good

thing because I have trouble counting that fast ;-) Everything sets mine off.

The worst is always in the morning. I think blood pressure is naturally

elevated in the morning. Can I not eat fruit/veggies that contain vitamin C?

There's nothing left I can eat. I guess that will help with the weight

loss...I'll try you're before & after method. I hope I'm not allergic to wheat,

it's my favorite food.

Peace,

Tori

Very hard to tell.

I'd stop worrying about diet till the hyper symptoms are

definitely controlled.

Hyper often have diarhea and absorbtion problems as a results,

so plenty of healthy food ensures adequate nutrition.

Usually in the hyper weight loss phase dieting is the last thing

on your mind, I was more concerned with eating anything I could

get my hands on.....

Sounds like a good plan.

Unless you have evidence of wheat allergy, or problems with vit

C (I missed that thread), I'd stick with a classic healthy diet

till the doctors agree on something else. So less processed

food, plenty of fruit and veg, less red meat....

Hi Simon,

The diet that I'm on is geared towards those with liver/thyroid problems.

Weight loss is a nice side effect. It consists mainly of lots of fruit/veggies,

no sugar or processed foods, no red meat--just healthy stuff. I never had

weight loss, just gains.

> Hyper often have diarhea and absorbtion problems as a results,

That's definitely the case for me. I feel like I absorb no nutrients from my

food. Should I make lots of shakes or chop foods like nuts to aid digestion?

> Usually in the hyper weight loss phase dieting is the last thing

I eat everything in sight. Pair that with constant weight gain and I have quite

a problem! I'm tired of buying bigger clothes several times a year.

That's my diet in a nutshell. I haven't investigated it enough to find evidence

of a wheat or vit C allergy, but it wouldn't suprise me.

Should veggies be cooked or eaten raw? I've seen fairly convincing arguments

for both. Should I do both to hedge my bets?

Take care,

Tori

Tori,

I am so glad you did that!!! I hope you are feeling better soon.

I'm pretty brain dead these days... I didn't even realize you hadn't

done the whole doctor thing at all yet. Much as I hate them, I must

admit there are times when they are really necessary.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who's brain dead :-) I'm not opposed to

going to mainstream doctors or anything. I was just diagnosed at the end of May

and my doctor recommeded that I see an endo. I just haven't been able to get an

appt. It's so hard to plan when I don't know which state I'll be living in next

month (back in WA, I hope).

Working my way back through all these posts.

Tori,

The BP cuff will show you the things that affect your blood pressure only. I

found what differnt 'triggers' were for me this way. By this I mean food

containing iodine, msg, those darn Vit C pills...these are thing that raised

my BP and also made me more hyper.

It will not help you find allergies , such as wheat.

Just want to be clear.

That's ok. I'm far too confused to attempt to track down allegies anyway ;-)
