Guest guest
The book " You're body's varies cries for water " says that many different diseases (they list) can be allieveated with more water--and most of us don't get enough. Here's my latest experience: I drank about 1 glass a day, lots of fruits, veg's. My new doctor pulled at my skin on my hand (which didn't return to shape immediately) and looked in my eyes and said " you are very dehydrated--I won't do anything this visit except tell you to drink 8 glasses a day until your labs come in " . Well I only made it to 4--and what a difference in one month!! I am still trying to get to 8. It helped eleviate my cracking joints (RA) plus lots more. I've read lots of other books too with varying opinions-- " Arthritis and Common Sense " I think mentions water dillutes. But another way to tell if you are dehydrated is by the color/smell of urine--if it's dark and odor--drink more water. As I recall, he basically said that you get plenty of water in a normal day through intake of liquids, fruits, etc. In fact he even went on to say that he thought it was detrimental to folks with arthritis (and I don't remember his exact reasoning, so if any of you have one of his books, perhaps you could explain why) , something on the order that it was more or less diluting the " slippery stuff " (my quote) that aids in making the joints flexable. No Ethel - I didn't say this - Dr. did! Can't remember which book though. Thought that would spark some discussion! Mark >>
