With abdominal myomectomy the doctor may be able to remove the

fibroids without cutting all the way through through to the cavity,

thus minimizing the likelihood of scarring within the cavity.

Hi Sydney,

I am not familiar with Asherman's syndrome but I have been in contact

with Dr. West also and am considering him for an abdominal myo. I

know several women on the list have gone to him for treatment for

their fibroids and all seem to be happy with the results. If you do

a search in the archives on Stanley West you should be able to find

some of the posts about him.

I understand how you feel about finding a docotor in your area to do

the surgery because I feel the same way. But I'm torn between

finding someone close by who may not be as experienced but who still

may be able to do the surgery without any problems or going to New

York and having Dr. West do the surgery. There is another doctor in

PA, Dr. Glassner (near Philadelphia, I think) who is also

supposed to be really good. Are you limited by insurance at all?

Here's a good website that could answer some of your questions.

It's basically when the doctor goes vaginally with a hysteroscope and with

another instrument, shave that part of the fibroid that is pushing it's way

into the cavity of the uterus. And dependent on its placement and size

sometimes, the fibroid may also be removed that way also.
