Guest guest
Sue, Parchment paper is available from Chef's Catalog, and they have a website. Also, you can order it from King Arthur Flour, which also has a website. If you have a Crate and Barrel near you, or a Sonoma store, they usually have it as well. Any place that sells Wilton cake baking supplies should have it. Or, if you contact some of your bakeries, they might have some they'd be willing to sell you. Also, I imagine that Martha By Mail would have it as well. She LOVES parchment paper! I have found pre-cut large sheets at my Gordon Food Service Store, if you have any of those near you. The IGA grocery store here didn't have it (only had wax paper) and > the Wal-Mart here didn't have it either. Sue, my hubby and I went looking for it at our Wal-Mart too. (You can make the best bacon you've ever had when you put it in your oven with parchment paper.) Anyway, we didn't have any luck there. My mom buys it at Meijer, and she gave us a role of it when we saw her Mother's Day weekend. You might try them if you have one nearby. in Indy 253.5/241.5/150 - 3/26/
Guest guest
in Indy, How do you make the bacon in the oven with the parchment paper? Sounds good. If it was posted I missed it. I had to delete most of my messages because I had just to many. Laverne
Guest guest
Oh, Laverne, you didn't miss anything. I'm pretty sure I never posted this trick. To make REALLY good bacon, get out your roasting pan (or an 11 " x17 " jellyroll pan), and line it with parchment paper. Lay out your bacon flat in a single layer, and then pop it in a 400-degree oven for 10-15min. It doesn't work too well if you're bacon is of poor quality, but if it's decent quality, it's VERY yummy! I have to thank my mom for that little trick! in Indy 253.5/241.5/150 - 3/26/01 > in Indy, How do you make the bacon in the oven with the parchment > paper? Sounds good. If it was posted I missed it. Guest guest
Thanks , Where does all the grease go? What is the purpose of the parchment paper? Thanks Laverne (who is really behaving herself yesterday and today)

A little gets on your pan, but it's REALLY easy to clean up. I don't know WHY I make it on parchment paper in the oven. Wait a sec; yes I do. I make it on parchment paper because that's how Mom said to do it. And she obviously knows what she's talking about 'cause it's yummy! You can make other meat that way too, and it'll give it a nice texture. It's supposed to work really well for chicken with the skin on. (MMMMMMMM! I need to try that soon. I have this hackerin' for chicken. ) in Indy 253.5/241.5/150 - 3/26/

Guest guest
Thank you for the link. I ordered the silpats and also a refurbished food processor for $37 and the shipping was free! I love fun kitchen stuff, although I'm going to have to reorganize my kitchen. I was very tempted to buy new pots & pans, but landed on the food processor. I've always wanted one. :-) Beth in TX wrote: <<I just found out that if you go to http://store.yahoo.com/buybidwin/bakmagreusno.html they have 3 silpat like baking sheets for 9.99 with free shipping>>
