Guest guest
I just got off the phone with my mother-in-law. A little bit of her history: She has Hashi's and adrenal fatigue like me. She's been taking synthroid and not improving so I find a doctor for her that takes Medicare and does saliva testing and Free T3, T4 and Antibody testing. (My doctor does not accept Medicare). I was so excited, they did the tests, she was found to have low cortisol and low on T3 etc. I don't have a copy of the labs but I remember they were similar to mine where they were high in the AM and then tanked the rest of the day. The Dr. started her on 1/4 grain of Armour w/Synthroid and some " Adrenacor " supplements. I asked if they could give her some HC but the Dr. said she didn't think she needed it and the supplements should take care of it. Fast forward 2 months and my MIL is not improving, she says she's feeling " hyper " on the armour and went back to the doctor for a recheck. I told her to ask if she could start on some Isocort to help the adrenal issues and the Dr. says she doesn't think that's a good idea but hands her an Rx for Paxil! I am shocked! She's supposed to be this DO with all these " natural " treatments and then she does this? I advised my MIL not to fill this RX but she wants to try it. I keep hearing all these bad things about this drug and I'm concerned for her. I'm thinking I want to order some Isocort for her to try but she's older and what if she has some kind of reaction to it. I want to try and find her another doctor but she sounds like she's giving up. I told her to start tracking her temps. She is on so many medications for this and that, I just know the Paxil would put her over the edge. Any advice? Joann
Guest guest
UGH.. It is a sin these doctors handing out Paxil when it is lwo cortisol that is her problem. I would get her the Isocort. It si OTC and as such is considered VERY safe or it would nto be. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Thanks Val, I only worry she might have a thyroid dump. She is taking only 1/4 grain of Armour right now, do you think she will be OK? She has hypertension (probably from being hypoT/low adrenal) so I worry about her BP. She also is such a nervous nilly about things (probably from being hypoT/low adrenal too). Does anyone have a source for Isocort they use and like? I did a google search but I am leary after ordering some shoes online and never receiving them (don't buy your shoes from myshoestore.com). Thanks! Joann > > UGH..
