Guest guest
Hello All, I'm back from my visit with Dr. Valle in Chicago and my trip to Japan. I'm truly exhausted and ready for a rest. I wish I had better news to report, but unfortunately, I never got my period. Tomorrow will be 10 days since I stopped taking my hormones and I have not had a speck of blood show up. Dr. Valle thought my period should have shown up within 2-3 days after my last pills and he was not optimistic at my appointment. He said my case was very difficult and did not see any endometrium while he did the surgery. My guess is since there was no patch of endometrium, and now no period, there are no base endometrium cells left to grow a lining. Because of this (no period), Dr. Valle did not recommend doing a second surgery. At this point, I'm ready to move on to surrogacy or adoption. I'm not sure how we'll do either financially, but we'll figure out a way. I have a strong desire to have more kids and if I have to take out a second mortgage on my house, I will. (Ideally, I will win my lawsuit, but I'm not holding out for that.) As you can expect, I'm terribly disappointed. I really wanted to prove my original RE wrong and that I could overcome my AS, but I couldn't. It's incredibly tough to face this fact, but I know in time, I'll be feeling better. I want to thank all of you who have given me encouragement and the strength to fight AS. I have learned so much from you all and have become a better medical consumer. I wish it could have worked out better, but I must face the facts and recognize my body will never be pregnant again. For those of you just starting this journey, please, please, please, see an A-list doctor as soon as you can. Don't waste any time with a regular OB or RE. My case may have turned out differently if I had seen my A-list doctor sooner. Also, fight till the bitter end with insurance companies....you pay those premiums every month for a reason...to be covered when you need it. AS is not infertility, it's a medical condition that needs treatment. FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT until you get covered and don't take no for an answer. On that note, I'm going to bed and will hopefully feel a little better in the morning. Sara O.
