Guest guest
I've used natural compounded progesterone with relative success and no side effects. If you want more info, check out the archives or email me directly. I've posted the info a number of times. I write " relative " success because it didn't completely stop my heavy periods but it did help me recover from anemia, and I liked using it more than bcps (Loestrin). Was it significantly better than without the progsterone? Did you also experience less cramping/clots? Were you able to function normally during your period? Thanks so much for the information - kathy
Guest guest
Let me also reply, since I have been posting about natural progesterone. I have been taking natural progesterone for several years. It regulated my periods enough so that heavy bleeding episodes I had earlier were avoided. I took 100 mg twice a day. I had spotting and regular periods, but nothing I couldn't live with. In the last several months, heavy periods with clotting and uncontrollable bleeding have come back. Several times I have bled for about five hours and become faint and then, anemic. After I read Anne-Marie's posts about the strength of the progesterone she was taking, I started taking more-200mg, twice a day. It has seemed to make a difference in the spotting. I haven't had a period since I started this extra dose, so I can't report on whether it stops the heavy bleeding. I think it may. I am seeing my nurse practioner next Tues. So I will report on what she says. As I have said before, I am post-menopausal, still producing estrogen at almost 61,

Menopause means not having a period for one year. If you're still having periods, how could you be post-menopausal? Cheryl

I last saw my gyn at the beginning of November. He did a blood hormone level in which the FSH came back 40. The cut off for menopause that his lab uses is 25. He's going to be surprised to find out that I started another cycle on Dec. 12. Cheryl
Guest guest
The ob/gyn keeps referring to me as postmenopausal with postmenopausal bleeding, because of my FSH level. She finally agreed that maybe it was perimenopausal. --- SiCanto@... wrote: > In a message dated 12/15/02 10:21:34 PM US Mountain > Standard Time, > susanloubet@... writes: > > > > As I have said before, I am > > post-menopausal, still producing estrogen at > almost > > 61, > > > > Sorry if you've posted about this before. . . > Menopause means not having a > period for one year. Guest guest
My FSH was 35.5 in 1999 and 49.5 this year, but estradiol was 33.3 this year. They give the range of untreated menopausal as 1.14-19, so I am clearly way above that and when I pointed that out, she agreed I was peri-menopausal. Guest guest
, What day of your cycle do you check your hormone level?
Guest guest
This was done by a blood test ordered by the doctor, not saliva and it was done the day before I started a period. --- oke@... wrote: > , > What day of your cycle do you check your hormone > level? > > >
Guest guest
I found that it did help with the heavy bleeding over time but I still had very heavy periods and clotting for at least 3 to 4 days out of a total of maybe 5 or 6 days of bleeding. The benefits I liked about using the natural progesterone caps was that I didn't have as much spotting in between periods. Before I started taking it, I had found out I was critically anemic (hgb 6 and hct 21) and I had been bleeding for 6 weeks straight by that point. By changing my diet, taking iron supplementation and the natural progesterone, my periods got better over time and I had much less mid cylce spotting and bleeding.
