Oooh I wish we had Albertson's here!!! I love that cereal...and so do my kids!

Well at least I can get some coupons here (those are just Albertson's right?)

Thanks for the heads up!

:-)

Gluten-Free Dance: Neopets!!!

I just wanted to share my wonderful deal this morning, and hopefully it can help some of you. Albertsons is having a sale this week that started this morning where the Neopets Island Berry Crunch cereal is 6 for $10 and for every 6 you buy you get $2 off at the register with your Albertsons card. So that makes them $1.30 a box! Then if you go to the box tops for education website you can print coupons for 75 cents off so they end up being about 55 cents a box!!! I had a bunch of other coupons for 50 cents off a box so I bought 24 boxes for 55-80 cents per box this morning!!! I don't know if it is a regional sale, but I know all of the Albertsons in Utah are doing it. Even without the coupons it's a great deal!!!! And yes I did the gluten-free dance right there at the store!!!Jonyce

24 boxes. May your whole family still enjoy it after even the 24th box.

How do you store 24 boxes of cereal?

Even at such a good price, 24 boxes is at least 22 more than I can

wrap my brain around.

Enjoy!

Esther,

I have an unfinished basement, it's perfect for food storage. I used

to buy things each week as I needed them, but then a neighbor taught

me how to shop the sales and buy as much of things like cereal etc

in bulk so and save a ton of money. By doing it this way my monthly

grocery bill has been cut in half! Luckily all 24 boxes have

expiration dates in 2007 so we have awhile to eat them...

AH! I'm glad it works for you. We have mice in our basement. The

thought of storing any food there is just more than I can bear.

Heavens sake, the varmints eat my laundry!! (If only they'd eat ALL of

it, instead of just nibbling holes in various garments and then

scurrying off. Nothing like a wrecked garment. Well, I guess it could

be worse... they could eat stuff from the CLEAN pile and then I'd

REALLY be mad!! Wait, I take it back. They sometimes DO eat things in

the CLEAN pile, and then I'm MADDER THAN MAD. Dangnabbit rassinfrassin

varmints. But maybe one day they'll do me the favor of simply eating

ALL the dirty laundry. Then I'll buy new and promise to never, ever,

ever let it pile up again. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! In my DREAMS!!)

I use half of our garage as a pantry, and about six months ago I found

a single mouse dropping on the floor. After that, I went out and

bought 8 HUGE Rubbermaid containers with secure lids and now I have

all of my dry goods (anything not in cans or jars) separated into

these containers by category. I also have some nails up high on the

wall where I have hung plastic grocery bags of the Neopets

cereal...I'm paranoid that they'll stop making it and it has been such

a hit around here that I tend to buy a couple of boxes every time I go

shopping...I think I have 13 boxes out there right now :)

Mice are wily. Be sure you inspect those Rubbermaid things often.

We definitely check them often, plus I have them stacked up high, so

there's the weight of the containers helping to keep them closed. I

have a ridiculous fear of running out of food (as a single-parent with

three kids going to law school full-time, there isn't much money

around here!) and so I always have to have food in my " pantry " ...it's

like security blanket for me. I would be very, very upset if I lost

any of it to some @#$)@# & $#@$ & mice! :P

Plus, I like to stock up when things are on sale. Quite often lately

Meijer has put their Bob's Red Mill products on sale at less than half

price, and a month or so ago they had the Tinkyada pastas on for about

$1.75 a bag...I bought every package they had!! :) Plus, I found

Bob's Xanthan Gum on sale at a grocery store for just over $3 a bag,

so I bought all four bags they had...and even went back to see if

there were more on the shelf a few days later :)

All of my stuff is in sealed bins too.... Sterlite, Rubbermaid,

Tupperware..... you name it....

We had the " Great Ant Invasion of 2003 " in our house in San Diego and

I had to toss everything excepted canned foods. (including all our GF

stuff). That should have taught me NOT to buy in bulk, huh? Anyway,

I do buy in bulk, and everything is in bins, labeled, etc.
