I was so young when I came down with it I don't remember having the brain fog then, but I sure do now. Because it's in every organ in our body I'm sure the brain has not escaped. Sometimes I feel just plain stupid and I'm sure I'm not alone. Anita
Guest guest
Tony, Can totally relate to what you're saying, right down to having a computer-related job and not being able to function as quickly or as well. I actually went to my GP a year prior to my joint involvement, complaining of extreme fatique. He ran tons of tests and couldn't come up with an answer. After reading The New Arthritis Breakthrough, I'm convinced that's when my RA first starting flexing it's muscles. I used to have a memory like an elephant and could do 10 things at once but these days I often have trouble concentrating on a single task and I constantly have to leave reminders to myself because I can't trust my memory any more. At least knowing it's part of the illness helps us to realize we're not just going crazy. a > Tony Milligan wrote: > > I just want to compare some notes...I am almost finished with The New > Arthritis Breakthrough and was pretty amazed when getting to the > portion in The Road Back where Dr. Brown describes the precursors to > RA....it was almost as though he was reading my mail for the last > couple of years... > I was diagnosed just six months ago...he mentioned trouble > concentrating, fatigue and some memory loss as symptoms which show up > before actual joint inflammation begins...Looking back at the last > couple of years I can emphatically state I experienced these symptoms > and still do. it has made my work very difficult...I work with > computers and computer networking, building, fixing, etc...etc....My > mind works much slower than it used to...sometimes it is almost as > though there is some sort of block there....It takes me much longer to > come up with a workable solution to a problem than it used to. Guest guest
You are so right a...I too used to have a VERY good memory...wondered for a couple of years what was wrong..it really worried me....I too rely on reminders, such as putting tasks into Microsoft Outlook so I don't forget to accomplish them....It does help knowing it is a part of RA but would sure be nice if things could go back to the way they were....hopefully the AP will help me as it has some others... Blessings and health. Guest guest
Hi Toni: I think, we or almost all of us, have been there at one point in time but it does get better. Have faith. Mado rheumatic RA and its symptoms I just want to compare some notes...I am almost finished with The New Arthritis Breakthrough and was pretty amazed when getting to the portion in The Road Back where Dr. Brown describes the precursors to RA....it was almost as though he was reading my mail for the last couple of years... I was diagnosed just six months ago...he mentioned trouble concentrating, fatigue and some memory loss as symptoms which show up before actual joint inflammation begins...Looking back at the last couple of years I can emphatically state I experienced these symptoms and still do. it has made my work very difficult...I work with computers and computer networking, building, fixing, etc...etc....My mind works much slower than it used to...sometimes it is almost as though there is some sort of block there....It takes me much longer to come up with a workable solution to a problem than it used to. I thought it was just age or something but after reading this I am certain it is the RA causing this... Anyone else with similar experiences? Guest guest
I have experienced the forgetfulness and loss of clarity that you described.I am 35 and couldn't understand it.I will say that has improved for me over the past year on the antibiotics.I do get brain fog from time to time but not nearly as bad or as often as before.Lots of luck.
