Guest guest
I am not from TX, so I can't provide a recommendation for a Nephrologist, however, I did want to let you know that there have been quite a few posts on Cytoxin the past couple of weeks. You may want to type in Cytoxin and Cytoxan into the search archives on the yahoo web site. That should pull up a number of posts that will tell you about the experiences of others with this drug. I have not taken this drug personally. \ In a message dated 8/3/2004 3:19:54 PM Pacific Daylight Time, oceanboy_us@... writes: > I just got back from my general practice doctor and he wants to send > me off to see, and I quote, " a high power nephrologist. Guest guest
A good place to begin your research might be at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. I don't know anybody there, but their nephrology department seems to be well staffed. Check out http://www8.utsouthwestern.edu/utsw/home/research/nephrology/index.html Cy Looking for a good nephrologoist > I just got back from my general practice doctor and he wants to send > me off to see, and I quote, " a high power nephrologist. Guest guest
In answer to the question about the cytoxin. I have been on it for nine weeks now. I am also on 30 mg. Predisone starting both meds at the same time. The Predisone makes me super hungry all the time-reallly nervous and jittery but lots of new found energy-the Cytoxin has caused me at 100 mg. a day tablet form to shed some hair and also the Cytoxin gives me a metallic taste and all foods taste exactly the same. I miss My Pepsi taste-I just went to the Nephrologist today and my protein was down from eight weeks ago at 6 grams a day to wow a low 1/2 gram-my creatitine back eight weeks ago was 2.9 and today it was 2.7 so the Dr. says that is good. I will stay on the cytoxin one more month and then I will be started on a different drug inferon? I think he said and also I will be on the predisone for some time he says. Hope this helps with those that have questions but I do know different folks have different side effects. Good Luck to all. Guest guest
Hi Billie, Wow!!!! That is great news that your protein went down so much! That will help to preserve the remaining kidney function. I am so glad the drugs are working for you.
