Marie ,

Have you tried letting him suck your finger? (make sure it goes back nice

and deep in his mouth) That might soothe him enough to try again. Try to

get him in a comfortable nursing position and slip out your finger and offer

your breast instead. That might make for a calm transition. Also try

nursing him when is just barely awake or after walking him almost to sleep.

Do you have a sling? That might help to keep him close to you and very

interested in your breasts. If you have one putting it on with him in just

a diaper and you with no shirt can give a lot of good skin to skin contact.

Keep up the great work it sounds like you are making progress. If you need

the number for a LLL leader in your area, let me know. :D

Thank you so much for the encouragement. It is slowly improving and I've

managed to get him latched on again twice today (only once yesterday). I'm

wondering if I should stick to my guns more when he cries? Usually I try

but

if he gets really worked up I give him the bottle. Maybe if I just try

soothing him and waiting like 15 mins and keep trying he will get it? What

do you guys think? The times he has latched on it was without a fuss. I

can't figure out why sometimes he still screams until he is purple.

i believe it took a couple weeks, it was very hard to go anywhere at first

for me. But once she got the hang of it , she did great. If you just pump

enough to get the milk to let down, and get your nipple out, and then put

baby on, he should get the milk really good. Are you nipples inverted? or

flat? mine are flat before beastfeeidng, and barely stick out. even after

nursing for 16 months prior, I still had flat nipples this time all over

again. it just takes a little time for the nipples to go out, so the baby

can latch onto it.and the pumping helps this a lot.

I didn't realize that Jen! I'm so glad things are going better for you now!

Michele

When I first started BFing Nick, it was hard for him to latch on. 1. I am big breasted. 2. I have an inverted nipple. He would cry and I would be so frustrated that I would hit my fist on the chair. I would cry and tell my DH that I was just going to go to the bottle and give up BFing. I felt like I was starving him. I would have to have Dan get up in the night with me to help me get him latched on. We used the football hold so we could see what we were doing. Dan would hold his arms because Nick would flail them so and they would get in the way. The first week was hell. When Dan went back to work I was so afraid to be left alone because I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get him latched on bvy myself. I even had my 8 year old help me a couple of times. lolBut it is worth it to work at it and try, try again. I look at him now and he is so chubby and healthy and I know that I did that! W.

Yes, he sucks my finger constantly. That is usually how I calm him down when

he gets hysterical and won't latch on. The problem with me was I was trying

after just a few minutes of him calming down. Today I tried waiting longer

in between trying and it worked. Thanks for the advice. I have to brag that

I only fed him from the breast today so far!! That makes 4 times in a row I

got him latched on. I think we're on our way to a great nursing

relationship. I can't believe how happy this makes me feel :-)

What reasons are there to do a hysterectomy despite not being able to carry another pregnancy (this itself of course is not enough reason)?

What stage of AS do you have? Have you had an HSG or hyst to determine it?

Corinna,

Hi...my uterine rupture was basically medical malpractice, I can't go into detail because of litigation. The chronic pain, the black discharge, and a few other things are the reason for my hysterectom. I have had an hsg, a saline sonogram, a lap., a hysteroscopy, an MRI, an IVP, a colonoscopy, u/s's, a CAT scan....and I have been to 3 dr's to determine if it is necessary.....I am so doctored out!!!!
