Guest guest
Is drinking juice with an iron pill sufficient? I thought I had to have some food in me to protect my stomach lining. Also, the iron I am taking has 300 mg. of vitamin C in it and it is sustained released, so I keep thinking I can't eat any of those foods at all if I want the iron to absorb. I am still baffled as to what I CAN eat. > > So, what pray > > tell does one do when taking their iron? > > You probably already know that to maximize the > absorption of iron in your in > testine, Vitamin C must be taken simultaneously. > Hence, I would suggest the > good old glass of orange juice, but, NOT at the same > time you have your > coffee or tea--say, midmorning? Taking 3 Slow FEs per day for a month raised my hemoglobin from 7.7 to 12.2. It seems to me that eating the right things with iron will maximize its absorption, but just taking the iron will help you no matter what.
